1 out of 5 stars the quality has gone down   December 2, 2008
About 6 months ago I took my VCR in for a professional cleaning before I started transfering my tapes over to disc. I have used the Maxell head cleaner in the past with good luck. I cracked open a new one to use. When my tape got a little grainy I used it only to have a big clump of oxide or whatever it is that is used on the cleaner come off and clog the heads so badly that it rendered my VCR worthless with no picture. I took it back to the repairman and had it recleaned 'cause there was nothing I could do. Well I just started transfering tapes again and I opened up another new Maxell head cleaner. After recording a few tapes the picture was still good but I thought I would clean the heads anyway. I put in the brand new cleaner and again a big clump of junk came off it clogging the heads again so bad that I now have to spend the money to go back to the repairman. This is the last time I will use this product. Before I threw the box out I should have checked out the label. It's probably made in China these days.

3 out of 5 stars dry VCR cleaner   November 9, 2008
Well, it works...but it took several "runs" to clean my VCR heads sufficiently. Still given how difficult it has been to even find a VHS cleaning tape, I'm glad to have found this one. Who knows? Maybe my VCR heads were just VERY DIRTY?

5 out of 5 stars Great VCR Cleaner   October 12, 2008
I've used this VCR cleaner for years and it does a good job of keeping the heads clean. I use it every 2-3 months as I do a lot of taping and tape viewing. I have never had a problem with it in any VCR and I have several different brands. It lasts a long time and is good value for the money. All pros, no cons.

Maxell VCR dry head cleaner performed as advertised and restored picture and sound quality. The product is easy to use and the advertisments are not that annoying.

I don't know if it works or not....it didn't fix the problem with my VCR, probably the VCR is just old....so now, do I spend $200 on a machine that transfers my tapes to DVD??? ugh, I hate technology!!
