Get what you pay for! November 12, 2008
I needed a whole bunch of drives to give out at a workshop and these really fit the bill: 1gb was more than enough room, the price was $10 cheaper than any other 5-pack I found, and the seller sent them right away. Of the 20 I ordered (4 5-packs) 19 worked, so what with shipping it worked out to be around $7.50 per drive. loading them up with data also seemed to take longer than expected for a USB 2.0 drive, but it worked.
I would definitely suggest them for other people in my situation: putting information on a drive to hand out at a workshop or meeting, but they don't seem sturdy or reliable enough for me to want to trust storing my important documents on them without backup.

This 5-pack is a great way to stock up on your 1gb Flash drives. At this price, you can afford to give them away! We bought these to give out as backups for a Photo DVD, along with some 4x6 prints. PNY is an excellent brand for flash memory, and I have always been pleased with the price-to-performance ratio for PNY memory. I have a PNY 1GB SD card that has been through the washer and dryer at least a dozen times, 3 years old, never a single byte of data lost.
The case is not too bulky, so you should have no problem plugging these drives into most of the narrower USB slots found on some PCs.
The biggest problem with these drives is that the cap over the USB connector has no lanyard and will inevitably get lost if you use them frequently. Spend a little more and buy a SanDisk Micro Cruzer if you need a better form factor.
These flash drives from PNY are rugged enough to be carried around in your back pocket every day. By comparison, my Memorex 8GB TravelDrive has a convenient flip-top case, which has inconveniently split in two. It still works, but for how long?
