Product Description UK Import Blu-Ray/Region All pressing. French Language with English Subtitles. Based on the 1944 Normandy Landings, FEMALE AGENTS recounts the story of five ordinary women tasked with rescuing a British agent from behind enemy lines. Louise (Sophie Marceau) is put in charge of the mission and her first point of duty is to assemble a crack team of all-female Resistance fighters. Using her feminine wiles, she manages to secure the very best women in their respective fields: a showgirl who excels in the art of seduction, a chemist and explosives expert, a prostitute and cold-blooded killer, and a Jewish Italian radio operator. Just when everything seems to be going well, they receive orders to assassinate the head of Nazi counter-intelligence in Paris, for fears that he knows too much about the Landings. How will the women adapt to this unexpected and potentially suicidal change of plans?

Female and French version of Dirty Dozen; well, almost half dozen January 4, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A strong war thriller about a group of 5 women who are sent from England into France in the times of preparation for the Normandy landing. They are tasked with rescuing a spy who is stuck in a German hospital disguised as German soldier. In the course if the mission their job gets an add-on: assassinate a German Colonel who knows too much about the preparations.
Good action movie, with some strong performances, notably Sophie Marceau as the team leader, but also the man who plays the colonel: Moritz Bleibtreu, a German star (who plays Andreas Baader in the recent RAF movie). Bleibtreu is amazingly polyglott: he gets along well in English and French. Chapeau, M.Bleibtreu! He plays the good bad guy (say in the line of respect for Rommel), ie we sympathize with his superior intelligence and sense of fair play and honor, but of course hope that Sophie gets him. I don't think I give away a surprise if I say that she does.
The English title is a little bland, but the French original title is not much better: Femmes a l'Ombre. Suggests some kind of dirty business. Or does it mean the lack of recognition that the group got? (seems to be based on real events)
