Product Description A thirtysomething slacker suspects his parents of setting him up with his dream girl so hell finally evacuate their home. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 08/21/2007 Starring: Matthew Mcconaughey Terry Bradshaw Run time: 97 minutes Rating: Pg13
Amazon.com The plot of Failure to Launch is utterly implausible, yet the movie is thoroughly fun. Tripp (laid-back Matthew McConaughey, Sahara, Dazed and Confused) is a 35-year-old man who still lives with his parents (Kathy Bates, Misery, and ex-quarterback Terry Bradshaw)--and they aren't happy about it. Eager to get him out of the nest, they hire Paula (Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker), a professional motivator who feigns relationships with boy-men so that their improved self-esteem will lead them to leave the nest. But Tripp's not the usual insecure shut-in Paula's used to, and as sparks fly, Paula finds herself losing her professional distance. This sort of set-up drove classic screwball comedies of the 1930s and 40s; once you embrace the absurdity, the movie zips along with a surprising balance of humor and bittersweet shadings. Failure to Launch gets a huge boost from the supporting performance of Zooey Deschanel (Elf) as Paula's housemate Kit--part sourpuss, part tomboy, and entirely sexy and winning. McConaughey and Parker have enjoyable chemistry and carry the movie well, but Deschanel is an oddball romantic-heroine-in-waiting. Also featuring Bradley Cooper (Alias) and Justin Bartha (National Treasure). --Bret Fetzer

Excellent romantic comedy and romance story December 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is about Tripp (Matthew McConaughey) who is 35 years old and still lives with his parents (Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw). Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker) is hired by his parents to try and push him out of the home and get him on his own two feet. But the problem is that she starts to fall for him romantically and feels bad that she is only "using" him for business purposes.
The movie takes the audience on a wild guessing ride about if Tripp and Paula will end up getting together romantically (and will Tripp leave the house). There are a lot of laugh out loud laughs along the way such as when Zooey Daschael's character gives CPR to a bird and the bird bites her on the nose!!
I can assure you that you will love this movie. It is one of my favorites and all time hits of the 2000's. It is just ashame they don't have many copies of the movies left in stock at local Blockbuster's. Great movie!

Very Fun to watch--definitely worth your time. October 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't know why this is rated less than 4 stars and some really sucky movies are rated 4.5. It is not the absolute max in romantic comedies, but it's up there with the best. If you go along with the plot, there are some really great laughs to be had in this movie. I don't even like sarah jessica parker or whatever her name is, but she did a great job in this movie--super acting by the whole cast. Great lines in here. The Star Wars part is hysterically funny.

the case that came with this dvd was clear. it wasn't the original case and this should have been stated in the product info. i would not have paid as much as i did for just a dvd and a clear case.
