1 out of 5 stars Yuck   June 28, 2008
About the only thing I remember about this movie is that when we rented it my brother (5) and I (8) both disliked it. My parents agreed that it was awful so we rented something else. Don't recommend it especially for $50! But if you were going to buy the VHS I suggest watching it on Youtube first.

1 out of 5 stars The worst movie ever!   March 24, 2007

Okay, where to begin! The memories I cherish of this insult to cinema (not to mention Japanese Anime) are vague impressions of horror and disgust. I was not very frightened by the parts that were supposed to be dramatic, even though these should not be viewed by young children, but by the overall mental deadness and bleakness of the film. You go away feeling that the world is a cold and evil place, and I all but shivered in my bed afterwards. After 90 minuites of violence and death in a bleak, cold amphibian world, I took one look at the repulsive cover and realised that it was created as a warning by some well intentioned graphic designer who wished to warn people away from this movie. do not waste your money! Warn the rest away before it is too late!

2 out of 5 stars You want rated G violence? This is the movie for ya!   December 16, 2006
I'm only twelve and I understand thet this movie is not good for kids ,atleast not the first half of it.I mean its an ok movie its just the rating they gave it.So its about this tree frog boy named Jonathan who's brother's and sister's are eaten by monsters and then years later he falls for this girl named Pookey [okay]who's father doesn't like the idea. Then he orders these bullies named Lefty and Mo [ooooookay]to beat the life out of him until he backs off. Jonathan fights them three times in the movie and the last time was good and bad because someone finally helps him.I'm going to try to explain the parts that I didn't really think was right for kids in america the first time jonathan fight those bullies he tries to defend himself but ends up getting beaten up in the process over a girl he likes. The scene has graphic written all over it.Mo grabs jonathan by the collar and slaps in the face....continulesly! That pretty much tells children that its ok to risk your life for people you just meet aka pookey....that's just a dumb name but anyway. The second fight jonathan wins at first but of course ends up losing the girl again and afterwards she blames herself tells him to believe blah blah blah.Anyway this third fight is when the hero comes in Mo knocks jonathan down and tells him to stay away from pookey or else.Once again jonathan tries to defend himself but did a pretty good job at first Mo holds jonathan by his shirt and slaps him again which sounds like he's hitting him even harder pookey then tries to stop the fight but to no avail then this big frog named goliath comes in and saves the day.I won't go on anymore its your desision if you want to buy it but if you ask me your only asking for the loss of your children's inoccence.

5 out of 5 stars Brings back memories   August 8, 2006
When i was very young, i watched this movie on nikolodeon(back in the pinwheels days) and was completely intrigued. I know somewhere this film is on vhs at my parents house, and I am thrilled(though appalled at the price) to see it on dvd. I had to write this review after seeing what the parents were writing about this. I remember this movie having a fantastic story and seeming very real as a child, but never remember is shocking me in any way, and my parents restricted me from watching even movies rated PG-13. Children under the age of 5 would have problems understanding the plot of this movie, so I would not suggest it for anyone under this age. This cartoon contains nothing more offensive than the cartoon of the hobbit or films such as labrynth or the dark crystal. yuppies that are now parents will want to keep their kids away because they are offended by anything that makes their children think, but for the rest, as someone who watched this as at a young age, i hold only fond memories of this film.

2 out of 5 stars Warning! Warning! Violent moive alert your kids are in danger!   May 8, 2006

Parents do not buy your kids this movie! I first got this movie when I was little and when I watched it it was violent from the start when the tadpoles were being eaten by those monsters. Also another shocking scene in the movie was when the big brown frog grabbed the little green frog by his suspenders and started slapping him in the face. The green frog's cries in pain broke me down and even more horrifying scenes are in the movie. Parents if don't want to corrupt your kids forever don't get this movie for them it might even corrupt you! Go ahead and buy it if you want to but don't say I didn't warn you!'_'
