3 out of 5 stars Not enough resistance   November 10, 2008
I previously owned a Gold's Gym wrist exerciser but it broke (when I ran over it in the garage). I bought the Marcy thinking it was a similar replacement. Not so. Not as comfortable on the wrist and the resistance is too week.

5 out of 5 stars Me crush   July 15, 2008

Look, I could go on and on about the almost endless benefits of extreme forearm strength, but let me instead just throw a couple of facts at you: The first is that if you are a man who can crush an extruded brick in his fist, supermodels in bikinis will immediately seek you out and begin throwing themselves at you regardless of your income level or hygiene. The second is that if you can crack open a brazil nut just by squeezing it you will be made the CEO of your company on the spot no matter how far over your sick day limit you've gone. Those are facts. Can this product get you there? Not by itself; only you can do that, but can it help? You'd better believe it. Don't spend another minute with a less-than-optimal grip. Now if you'll excuse me, the duties of my corporate empire and supermodel wife call and with a grip like mine, who could blame them?

3 out of 5 stars Somewhat pleased with complaints   July 4, 2008

I was going to do a video review, but don't think is an often bought item. Let me start by saying, I did not buy this as a rehab tool for an injury. I just bought it to see if it would give me a good forearm workout, since I've been popping and cracking my wrists for nearly 15 years with wrist barbell curls.

I'm no small man, at 6-3 255, this little device would barely fit around my forearm, which is the first complaint. There is absolutely no give here, it either fits or it doesn't. I would imagine for the average 5-10 180 pound man, that this would work fine, but it was very tight on my forearm and even left red lines.

Second complaint, the little wire that moves when you use it broke within a month of buying it. Again, this is probably because I do believe this is made more for the average man, not for someone who is a serious strength athlete.

The highest level of resistance was at best, average, for me. And it was on the highest level that I broke it. Maybe I could offer a tip to others, if you hear it clicking really bad, it is about to break!

Overall, I will give it a 3 for being a good forearm workout, but do not buy this if you are a serious weightlifter/powerlifter. If you do, you will hear it clicking.

I would compare the highest tension setting to doing dumbbell wrist curls with 40 pounds.

I would recommend this product for those who have injuries and even more so for teens who play competitive sports. This would be a great workout for a high school baseball player to build wrist strength to whip the bat when hitting.

I guess I will keep waiting for Gripmaster to make an XXXX-Heavy Duty version of their grip builders.

5 out of 5 stars Best fore arm exercise tool.   March 10, 2008

This is the most effective and efficient way I have ever found to workout your forarm muscles. This machine works, it is that simple. Use it too much and you'll look like Popeye.

3 out of 5 stars Good but there are better models out there.   July 30, 2007

This machine will build up your forearms, but its movement is not very fluid. Weider makes a similar device that i like more. If you are serious about working out your whole arm look into a product made by Ivanko. It is 30 times more adjustable and will grow with you. I highly recommend the Ivanko ProductIVANKO Super Hand Gripper Hand Strength Forearm
