Very nice, grips could be softer though June 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far I really love this. I'm a really small guy and started it out on the hardest level and I do reps of about 50 on each arm. My wife isn't able to do a single one on the hardest level.. so it's definitely good starter piece.
The only reason I didn't give this a 5 out of 5 is because I've already got some sores on the palms of my hand. The grips are rather hard.. I imagine it won't be a problem too long, but it's an initial discomfort. I don't exactly have soft hands, I've done quite a bit of work with electronics, land scaping, moving, and carpentry. I also make chain mail from thick wire (winding it around an iron pole, cutting each link, etc. lots of forearm work there). Making the chainmail makes my hands very tough, so having this device do this to my hands so soon has been a little disconcerting. Just man up and it'll go away eventually.
The spacers are nice too-- they enable you to control the spacing of the handle, which can make it easier or harder by controlling how open your hand is and how much work is required to get a full squeeze in. 2 spacers = short spacing, no spacers = hand is almost completely open.
I'd definitely recommend this to others.
Ok for starters May 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I cranked this to 5, and was able to squeeze it fairly rapidly over 30 times either hand. If you want to build up forearms, 5-25 reps to failure is recommended, I believe. Maybe this unit is for rehabilitation exercises?
The plastic grips are textured, but once I had a little sweat on my palms, my fingers slipped and slid up and pressed into the body of the unit. Also note this is all plastic (except the springs :).
The price was quite low, however.
Note that I haven't been working on my grip, and am only up to about 35 lb dumbells for biceps. So I didn't think I'd overpower it as easily.
Works GREAT!!! February 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I ordered this because I had be neglecting my forearms and grip during my workouts. It is very comfortable and the adjustable resistance works well for beginners as well as advance users.

This device is perfect for beginning to strengthen your arms. It is resistance adjustable to a point. Very comfortable to use and Weider always makes a good product.
