Plenty of light September 30, 2008 Just used the light for about a month but it delivers plenty of light. I'd prefer no battery pack but none of the lights I shopped had that "feature." This seemed to be the least bulky and works ok if the clip is on top, battery on the bottom.
One of the best lights I've ever had. August 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this booklight. Prior to buying it I didn't like LED lights because they didn't light up enough area. This light changed that entirely. It's called a booklight, but it could also be labeled as a flashlight. I rarely use it as a booklight, but when I do it works just fine.
The light illuminates a very defined area and that might be what the reviewer who said the neck wasn't long enough was talking about. It's easy to see the defined area: walk into a medium sized room (maybe 15 ft. x 15 ft.), make sure it's as dark as possible in the room, stand with your back to one wall of the room and aim the light at the far wall and turn it on. You will see a that the light illuminates a clear rectangular shape on the wall. If your trying to read a large book that has pages that are like 12 inches long and 8 inches wide the light may not be able to illuminate the entire page because of the length of the neck. But since the light can be aimed in tons of directions, it's not a big problem.
This light can easily light up a dorm room by itself, but it's not bright enough to wake up a sleeping roommate. I love this because it makes the light very useful if your roommate is asleep when you get back to your dorm room and you have to get ready for bed in the dark. I use this light as a flashlight most of the time.
One cool thing about this light is it's flexiblity. The light has a telescoping arm as you can see in the picture. When the arm is fully extended, it can bend forward and backward all the way to 90 degrees. The piece that houses the LEDs can also rotate forward and backward, as well as rotate 360 degrees. This light can replace those lights that clip to a hat, etc. This light is also useful for working in tight spaces when you need a little extra light and you can't hold a flashlight in your hand because of how bright it is and how flexible it is. The clip on it also pretty sturdy. I've clipped it to a metal bedframe before.
A way to test the battery life of this light: hold it in your hand about 1 ft. away from you. turn it on and turn it so that you're looking into the light. If you have to turn the light away quickly because it's hurting your eyes then the batteries are good. If you can look into the light without your eyes hurting then the batteries are low. I know it's kind of a stupid way to test the batteries, but it works.
Overall, this is a very good booklight and a very good LED flashlight. It's the best LED flashlight I've ever had and one of the best flashlights I've had. I very highly recommend it.
Excellent book light June 2, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I somewhat hesitantly purchased this book light after reading the bad review here and considering the cheaper options available. However, after using this product for a couple months, I can say I am very happy with the purchase and would buy it again. The ability to use AC adapter or batteries is great, even better is that the AC adapter is included. I find that the light is plenty bright enough to read, and unlike the previous reviewer I had no such troubles with needing to adjust the head. I set it once when I start reading and don't touch it again until I'm ready to turn it off. I do wish it was slightly thinner, but the thickness is due to the ability to accept AAA batteries - which is probably worth the size. This also works well as a small bedside light, bright enough to see around the room but not bright enough to wake up someone who's already sleeping. Highly recommended.
Very bright, but neck isn't long enough March 21, 2008 This is by far the brighter of the two book lights I've tried lately (the other is the five bulb, rechargeable model, very goodlooking, twice as expensive as this, and uselessly dim), but it simply can't be positioned so that it completely lights one page, much less two. The neck isn't long enough. In fact, it has to be aimed so sharply at the bottom halves of pages that it doesn't light them readably, but rather creates a weird kind of glare on the text.
The first reviewer wrote: "The telescoping arm and fully rotating LED head makes it easy to throw the light exactly where you need it on the page." So--you're supposed to be readjusting it it every half-page or so? Not good enough.
Without a doubt - the best book light you can buy. November 23, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a great little booklight. The telescoping arm and fully rotating LED head makes it easy to throw the light exactly where you need it on the page. The LED lights are indeed mighty bright and they remain so for many hours. When they finally do dim, you can easily replace their standard AAA batteries. It also comes with a power supply, but I never use it because I don't want wires dangling from my book!
The Mighty Bright's only shortcoming is that the battery case is just a little bit heavier than I'd prefer for paperbacks, but it's not unworkable. Still I'd consider trying their mini-model for paperbacks if its anywhere near as good as it's big brother.
