I ordered this attractive (and well-priced) bamboo rug, then reevaluated my home decor and found I did not need it. I will, however, be ordering from this company (Home Design, via Amazon) the next time I am in the market for something similar.
When I wrote to request that the order be cancelled, I did not have high hopes, given some unfortunate previous experiences with online firms. For instance, I once ordered something in the wrong color by mistake (it was the "default color" at their website, and I neglected to scroll down). I emailed the seller back immediately to see if I could get the color I wanted instead. They said no, sorry, "already in the shipping process," etc. By the time the item really did ship -- and arrive at my home -- I realized it was so large and unwieldy that I might as well just keep it. A few months later I got rid of it since it was just not right for my place.
This vendor, in contrast, responded expeditiously, efficiently, and courteously to my request that my order be cancelled. I received an immediate return-email from Chris at Home Design, informing me that my order had been cancelled and wishing me a nice day. Later Chris answered just as quickly and courteously to a request for information regarding the refunding of my payment.
I don't know about you, but I feel outstanding customer care is pretty important for attracting my own business and for building a long-term relationship with me as a customer. This may sound a little ironic since Home Design did not actually get my order this time -- but you can be sure I will turn to them first when I am ready to buy.

i think $40 is pretty hard to find for a rug like this. it's pretty nice quality...only issue is that the color is a little more "orange" than i prefer. Other than that, it's attractive and hard to beat at the price.

This rug far exceeded my expectations. I rolled it out and put away the regular rug I had in the attic. This rug is absolutely fabulous for where I live, near the beach. A good clean look and you can't beat the price. I had looked elsewhere and found similar rugs for at least $100 more. I have cats and cleaning is a breeze (unlike the regular rug, which was just a hair magnet) - just a good dry mop and it's clean. I use my vacuum on it (bare floors setting) and that also works just fine, but is hardly necessary. I love the fact that you don't need a rug pad underneath it. Mine has not moved since I put it down. Just love, love, love this rug.

Very unique rug, sure to get compliments. I can't believe the price!
I just rolled mine out today, and I'm thinking about buying another for my son's room.
For $40, you just can't beat it. I compared prices to other bamboo rugs of the same style/size, and the cheapest I found was $80 - most were in the $150-$199 range. Stop contemplating... buy this now!

This rug is absolutely beautiful!
It appears to be very well made. I can't comment on it's long term durability since I've had it less than a week but bamboo remains very strong provided it is kept dry. I plan on putting a couple of coats of tung oil on it to help preserve the finish from scratches and keep moisture out. FYI, you can also protect it with linseed oil, which is far less expensive but it yellows with age.
I was surprised to find that it has a felt backing since it was not mentioned in the description. In light of this, I'm going to forego getting a rug pad for now. The photo accurately shows the color of the bamboo but the border is a slightly lighter shade of brown. This is a benefit in my opinion. There is less contrast so your eye is more focused on the elegant wood. Another added bonus, besides the remarkable beauty of this floor covering, is that it is also very comfortable to walk, stand, sit and lay on.
I'm just astounded that the price was so low. Shipping is a bit costly, given it's weight, but it still came out well below any competitor. I purchased this during a free magazine subscription special. Anyone that doesn't want the magazine can look to the "Fine Print" to find out how to get a refund for the value of it. It was $12 off in my case which essentially made this gorgeous rug $42 delivered for me. You would never know it was so cheap by the looks of it!
I highly recommend this rug given the beauty and quality, not to mention the versatility of styles that it goes with.
