Product Description
Cincinnati Chili Preparing DirectionsThis chili has magical powers. It can get you past a bad break up or improve your productivity at work. However, in order to unleash the magic you must use the following recipe. It also makes the best batch of chili you'll ever eat. * 1 package of chili * 6 cups of water * 1 small can of tomotoe paste * 1.5 lbs of thawed lean ground beef * 1 bag of oyster crackers * 1 bag or brick of Tillamook mild cheddar cheese * 1 white onionThe trick to making great chili is cooking time and temperature coupled with the consistency of the ground beef.Inalarge pot add 6 cups of water. Add 1 small can of tomatoe pasteand the chili powder. Wash your hands, because you are going tobe putting them in the pot.Now add the ground beef into the mixture, but shred it as finely as you can while it's in the water. You want as thin a consistency as possible. This is why it's important that the meat be thawed. Do not brown the meat!Next turn on the heat, beat mixture with a fork, and let boil for 1 minute. Thenreduce to a rolling simmer. Let it simmer like this uncovered for about 45 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Use a wooden spoon for best results. After about 45 minutes turn the heat down to a light simmer for another 20 minutes. You can tell it's ready for the heat reduction when you stir and the chili starts to bubble out of the pot. After the 20 minutes remove the pot from the stove. Let is stand for 10 minutes. You don't want it too hot, because you don't want the cheese to melt into it.

5 out of 5 stars Cincinnati chili   October 4, 2008
Being a native born Cincinnatian, I grew up on Cincinnati style chili,I had been craving some for quite some time. This is as close to being the real thing than anything I have ever tried.Delicious with that unique flavor only found in and around Cincinnati.I highly recommend to anyone , especially displaced Cincinnatians.

2 out of 5 stars I wanted this to be better than it is.   July 9, 2008
With all the glowinig reviews I read, I was eager to get this mix and ordered 12. I am totally disappointed. There is no strong spice taste to separate this from any other mix. I am very dissapointed and I followed the receipe to the letter.

Jim

5 out of 5 stars Cincinnati Recipe Chili Mix....bringing a taste of home to anywhere!   May 11, 2008
There's nothing more wonderful than the nostaligic taste and smell from your childhood....
For me, this Cincinnati Recipe chili mix brings back fond memories of growing up in Cincinnati and visiting the various "chili parlors"
Now that I live outside of the Tristate area, I never thought I could recapture that portion of my youth, but this seller sure helped a lot!
I'm still looking for LaRosa's pizza, Graeter's ice cream & Mama's cookies ;)

1 out of 5 stars Cincinnati chili   April 12, 2008
I followed the instructions to the letter and the result was the sweetest chili that has passed my lips. I ordered 6 of the packages and would be willing to give the rest of them away! Just pay postage.

5 out of 5 stars Tastes like home.   March 26, 2008

I love Cincinnati Chili, but for the uninitiated, I have one recommendation: don't think of it like chili. My friends who expect "chili" are usually very confused when I make it for them, while the friends who expect a distinctive pasta sauce are generally more receptive. Therefore, I try to avoid using the word "chili" to describe the sauce before I introduce someone to it.

You might not like it at the outset, but some time later (sometimes a month, sometimes more), most people start craving it again. At least, that's my experience.

As my mom used to say, I get a yen for it ever couple of months, and when I do, it's insatiable (until I cook it again, of course!)
