Product Description This Deluxe Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier by Allen holds four bikes and is ideal for weekend biking trips with friends and family outings. A tie-down system securely holds and protects each bicycle while 22-inch carry arms drop out of the way when not in use. Appropriate for two-inch hitches, this carrier includes a strap which eliminates lower bike movement. Minor assembly and simple set up of the carrier is required. About Allen Bike Racks In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family's bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities. Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick's son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.

Rack rocks December 4, 2008 Awesome product. Prior to purchasing Allen Bike Rack - I had a Schwinn Rack that wobbled all over the place and was difficult to move the arms up/down and even a pain to tilt away from the tailgate of my truck. The Allen is well built and to tilt the arms up/down and to drop it away from the tailgate is a breeze. The other bonus is the strapping mechanism - much nicer than the Thule since there's no rubber to tear/rip over time.
Bike Rack October 11, 2008 My bike went on easy but my wife's and kids' bikes were hard to get onto the rack. Once everything was on it was secure.
Bike Somewhere ELSE! October 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These guys are not honest. Ordered another this item. Did not arrive. (For over a MONTH!) Several phone calls to full VM box. Did not reply to emails. Submitted claim to Amazon then, BikeSomeShere canceled my order so that I could not leave well deserved negative feedback. These guys cannot be trusted. Go to their storefront and see how many similar complaints. Buy this from someone else.
can't beat it for the price October 6, 2008 For the price this rack can not be beat. heavy duty construction, well made and easy to assemble.
Excellent 4 Bike Carrier. Great price. September 30, 2008 This is my second Allen Deluxe 4 bike hitch. The first one was 3 years old and working great until it was destroyed in an auto accident. We replaced it with the same model and were pleasantly surprised that the design got even better. It is easy to install and and uninstall for the winter. You will not be sorry with this rack.
