Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Lolita subwoofer has many features, which help to deliver its great bass performance and make it a remarkable value in home theater products. It utilizes a modern Class A/B amplifier circuit to produce high power with a minimum of heat. It has a variety of input and output connections that make it easy to setup and use in almost any stereo or home theater system. Each woofer uses an overhung voice coil and large excursion suspension to produce higher sound pressure levels with lower distortion. Each enclosure is designed to match the parameters of its woofer to maximize performance. Special low noise vents are used for less distortion at the bottom of the frequency range. The LOLITA subwoofer is short in height to allow it to fit under tables, beds, and other furniture. You can hide LOLITA out of sight and still enjoy subwoofer sound. You may wish to turn your LOLITA subwoofer on one of its sides to place it between furniture and a wall.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome at what it's designed for.   August 11, 2008

My wife sent me on a mission, a mission to purchase a subwoofer to replace the monlith subwoofer that was in our 20x15 Living room/Dining room. Went by the local CC and picked up the Lolita. I have it placed on top of a 6 foot entertainment center and my wife has covered it with appropriate decor. You really have to look for it. I have people try to find it when I they come over. As for the performace of the speaker, the bass is more than enough for easy to medium level music and works perfectly enough for movies. Yea, it's not a 12", but for what it is designed for, it is a 5 star product. If you want a subwoofer that is easy to hide and will fill out the lower spectrum of whatever you are listening to, this is the product.

4 out of 5 stars Great sounding sub   February 28, 2008
I chose this subwoofer because it's unique design fit in perfectly with the furniture I have in my small-ish viewing room. The 7" height made allowed it to sit underneath the cabinet that my receiver and dvd player reside in. I was willing to sacrifice some level of performance if I could find a sub to fit in the available area, but I am happy to say that as it turns out, no sacrifice was necessary. I have had this sub for around a month now and have had the opportunity to evaluate it with a variety of media. It replaced a larger Yamaha sub and so far has outperformed it in every aspect.

Movie explosions are deep and loud while music is very satisfying. In watching the movie Stardust, the effects, fighting ooomph and running horses were all thumping and far superior to the Yamaha. However, big bangs are easy and most subwoofers can pull that off. A little more difficult is the ability to satisfy musically, and I can say that in this respect the Lolita also delivers. Neil Young's Heart of Gold, while not exactly hard rocking, sounds great with awesome reproduction of the deep bass lines in Harvest Moon and Prairie Wind. Peter Gabriel's Growing Up tour DVD sounds great and Depeche Mode, which can really tax a subwoofer sounded way more musical and exciting than ever as compared to the Yamaha.

In closing, this sub is highly recommended for those who wish to hide a sub under an existing piece of furniture while maintaining high sound quality. It may not be suitable for very large rooms, but for mid to small sized home theaters the MTX Lolita is a very solid performer. This is my first experience with the MTX brand and I am happy to say that so far it has been a good one.

4 out of 5 stars Very good low profile subwoofer   September 19, 2007

I bought this to round out my HTS and it is great. I wanted something that would fit inside a cabinet and be out of site, but I only had 8.5" of height. This subwoofer fit in the space perfectly. It is long though, about 23" long, so it took up almost the entire shelf. The bass is deep and rich, and really adds to television, movies and music. You won't rattle your neighbors windows, but you'll definitely be surprised at the "lows" the Lolita offers. It was a very good purchase and I would buy it again.

4 out of 5 stars Sounds good for 8" subwoofer   November 16, 2005

I connected this subwoofer through rg-6(coaxial) to my receiver over 30' of cable and it sounds great. The sub itself is only 7"s high, but it is much longer than I expected. The sub itself sounds clean and definelty powerful enough for a 15x15 living room. It is most likely too tall to place under most normal sofas, but it looks pretty unintrusive, so it is not the eyesore that a normal big subwoofer is. he connecters offer both RCA and speaker wire, which is nice. The controls are easily accessible to adjust the levels. Pretty high up it compared with my old Sony 12" sub, but is much more compact and the sound was actually a lot cleaner, of course it does not put out as much DEEP DEEP bass because it is only at 8" speaker. The case itself fits on either its side of on its feel. te only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it is unusually long, like I said. I am sure it is neccessary for the airspace needed, it just isn't that apparent fromt he pictures
