Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel?
Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory. Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen?
No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer?

A Great Water Bottle December 2, 2008
After reading about the Klean Kanteen and hearing others recommend it, I decided this would be a great purchase. I chose the 27 oz. because it seemed like a big enough, but not too big size. I love how lightweight this bottle is and how easy it is to clean. It also helps me keep track of my daily water intake. Since my purchase, I have also purchased bottles for my children in the 12 oz. size, colors pink and blue. I'm sure they will be just as great for them as they are for me. Super earth-friendly product.

Big bottle, no BPA or harmful agents. The top is the only thing that is left lacking. Buy the sport top and save yourself the noisy opening and closing of the bottle.

The best features about this bottle are:
1. It's STAINLESS STEEL, not aluminum like the SIGG bottles. The SIGG bottles are ligned with a plastic like lining. Why not just buy the safer stainless steel in the first place?
2.WIDE MOUTH- The mouth of the bottle is wide, making for easier cleaning, filling, and drinking. Plus, you can fit ice cubes down the mouth, something you can't do with narrower bottles.
This is one hot looking water bottle! Very modern with a paint job that is not metallic like so many other bottles.
My husband bought one about six months ago and uses his on his bicycle and when running errands. When we got a countertop water purification system a few months ago I decided it was time to get a water bottle so I could take our new tasty water with me to work. I didn't want a plastic bottle because of all the concerns about plastics leaching chemicals into our systems, stainless steel is totally safe. When I went looking for a Klean Kanteen and was pleasantly surprised to find all the new color choices.
Great for kids lunch boxes November 23, 2008
I needed a better solution for drinks in my daughters lunch boxes. I gave up juice boxes because of the price and the amount of trash they put into our environment. I had bought plastic water bottles to fill with our own water, juice, milk etc, only to find out that these bottles were made with chemicals which could end up in the girls drinks. The 12oz Klean Kanteen water bottles are great! They are a perfect size for the lunch boxes, they don't leak and I know that my daughters drinks are chemical free. We have had them for a month and they have no dents or scratches. I would highly recommend the Klean Kanteen water bottles!
 Klean Kanteen vs. Sigg November 23, 2008

Well, recently I lost my sigg bottle, which I loved. I had been a little bit dubious about drinking out of aluminum, so I decided to give Klean Kanteen a shot. The size of the bottle is quite nice, and the poly loop cap forms a reliably tight seal. A couple of issues I have is that the poly loop cap can actually be difficult to grab onto due to its shape. So I have struggled to get it off quite a few times. Sigg has a better design for the cap. Also, the mouth is much larger on Klean Kanten, designed for ice cubes. When I drink from the bottle, the top of the mouth piece hits me in the nose. Sigg also is a better design in this regard. So, the only real advantage, in my opinion is the stainless steel. I wish Sigg would start making a steel bottle, because it would probably be a much better design.
