Brother's SE270D Embroidery Machine with Disney Designs is the perfect full featured combination computerized sewing & embroidery machine. The embroidery features include 97 built-in embroidery desings featuring 27 Mickey Mouse & Friends designs and 70 additional designs including florals, seasonal themes, 5 built-in monogramming fonts in 3 different sizes. The embroidery hoop area is 4'' x 4''. Also includes built-in memory card slot which is compatible with Brother's Embroidery Card Collection, Disney Embroidery Card Collection, PE-Design and PED-Basic.
The SE270D also has 98 built in stitch functions and Brother's exclusive quick-load thread cassette system. The cassette system threads your machine in 3 easy steps which even includes threading the needle for you. The bobbin system is also simple to use with the fast, automatic bobbin winder and one-step bobbin replacement with our quick set drop-in bobbin. You can also operate this machine without foot control using the built-in one touch start/stop and reverse operations. It is easy to select your stitch or embroidey pattern on this machine as it has a built-in LCD computerized touch screen pannel. The Amazon.com service on this order was excellent. However, shipment of this item was handled improperly. There were no "Fragile" markings or other special handling instructions on the package and it was loosely packed in newsprint. As a result, the machine arrived with a broken case and is completely inoperable. At this point I am awaiting disposition instructions from the seller. Return postage is to be paid by the seller.

Needle breaking - can someone help me? November 15, 2008

I just got this machine and have tried to applique 2 pieces. Both times the needle breaks during the last step of the applique process. I think something is wrong. I am using needle size 100. Can someone please help me? Email back.

I have had this machine for a year and it has opened the door to become more creative without killing your wallet. I love that the machine does both sewing and embrodery. The automatic threader has spoiled me. If you want an affordable machine that will do everything, this is it!

I bought this machine for my daughter and it worked great for about 6 months, then she began having trouble with the embroidery function. Sadly the machine was not able to be repaired.
A tough, versitle little sewing machine September 30, 2008
This is a tough, versitile little sewing machine. Though i'm still a novice, I've made several leather coats with mine and i'm quite pleased with the flexiblity this machine provides - ease of use with foot & needle changing - auto thread load and cut, multiple thread select and a lot of features simplified to make life easier.
The Embroidery system is simple too - though you'll probably want to purchase a PED & Card blank atttachent. (you can't just use a USB stick to transfer digital designs which is a bummer)
However, for a general purpose machine - its a nice little work horse for the price.
