Amazon.com Product Review The Scott's classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There's no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

No Fuss July 5, 2008 My Scott's mower has proved to be a good purchase so far. I've used it several times over the last few months and have enjoyed using it. I originally purchased it so I could have the kids cut the lawn without worrying about them having an accident with my power mower. They now prefer using the Scott's over the power because it's quicker and lighter to handle than the power. I enjoy it for the exercise I get and the ability to use it during early or late times without bothering my neighbors. My only concern for the future use is the durability of the mower handle. The wing nut screws seem to loosen after awhile and need a turn here and there-but so far no big problem. The other rule that I've read before is you can't let the lawn get too long and try to bull through it-you can but it won't look good. In conclusion-good product-wanted to buy an American made mower but they did not get the positive reviews this one did!
Very good and highly recommended for a small lawn July 2, 2008 What can I say, this push reel mower uses no gas or electric and gets the job done for small lawns. It's kind of light also, so moving it around is not that big of a deal. The only two critiques I can give this mower is that the handle is a tad bit unsteady (no big deal as long as it holds up). And secondly, occasionally you get a blade of grass that does not get cut as low as the other blades (little bit of unevenness). But once again not that big of a deal because I pair this reel mower with an electric trimmer and an electric edger for the ultimate "Green" lawn.
An excellent choice. June 29, 2008 In moving into a home with a fairly small lawn and in attempting to go green as well as economize it seemed appropriate to look into a reel mower. There is no doubt that it takes a bit longer to cut grass versus a gas or electric mower but I must second the view voiced by others that there is an added satisfaction in doing it this way. Some extra elbow grease is certainly involved. One can see that fact as a drawback or as an opportunity to combine a necessary task with a bit of a workout (minus combustion engine fumes). Most people who walk by seem either curious or genuinely appreciative. This particular reel mower has been very well received as evidenced by reviews across the board (within and without Amazon). Scotts is a solid company. The mower is not built to withstand being backed into with the family car but is definitely sturdy enough to do the job without any sense of flimsiness. From an educational standpoint, I found that once-weekly cutting is necessary. Otherwise, you need to raise the blades to a higher cut and go back over with lower settings. If you have reached that stage of the grass being so long that it is lying flat get it cut with another mower first or else you will be discouraged trying unsuccessfully to cut it with this mower. In the absence of the 'vacuum' effect of a 'standard' mower that grass is not going to be cut by this machine and it will not be pretty.
SCOTTS Classic Push Mower is GREAT!!!! June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had decided to sell my NICE Sears briggs & stratton 6.75hp mower in an effort to make alittle attempt to green up somewhere. Well let me tell you this SCOTTS mower is NOT any different to push through my yard. True you aren't able to get as close to the edge of the house/fence due to design. NO BIG DEAL. Alittle more trimming. I guess I'm saying that IS the only CON I have about the mower + I'm not broken up about it. I've had this mower for 6+ weeks now & I enjoy mowing more now than before. Probably because I have 2 little toddlers and w/o ALL the racket a gas powered mower produces geez!!! It's GREAT. Look I bought this mower w/every intension of making a stand at the pump!! Now I was only going through 5.5 gal. of gas a year. I had to start somewhere. Seriously it's a awesome mower. Infact my mom had come over to the house when I was mowing w/this new mower; She stared shaking her head. She used to use a REEL PUSH mower when she was growing up. She said "I can't BELIEVE you sold your gas mower for this thing!" I had her run 2 passes w/it. She ate her words. She said " I can't believe how easy this is to push wow" ENOUGH SAID!!! Enjoy "Greener mower of KCMO"
perfect for a stay-at-home-mom! June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a stay-at-home-mom with 4 children, I am constantly trying to get things done around the house while keeping an eye on the kids. This mower fits the bill! I can mow near the playset with the kids on it, I can hear them if they ask me something and vice versa, and my 4 year old loves to follow me around the yard talking while I mow! The assembly was easy and I really like how it mows. The grass looks great. I have a big enough yard (150' x 132') and it doesn't take much longer to mow now than it did with our gas mower. The only downside is that the handle is definitely a bit flimsy but it will hopefully hold out for us. I am very glad I bought this mower!
