I love it September 27, 2008 Its going everywhere I go. Its the best thing that ever happened to my salad or any other dishes a must have
Great product! September 21, 2008 I recently read Carol Alt's book, and I've been trying to eat more raw food. This gadget is great. It took me a while to realize it works best with constant pressure, but the "pasta" is amazing. And, this thing actually makes cucumbers tolerable :). Very easy to use and clean. I recommend it.
not what i expected September 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was hoping fo a Japanese style spiral slicer. This is meant for American kitchens. The Japanese have a smaller blade for thinner cutting. I am a Culinary Chef-Instructor and wanted this slicer for a sushi demonstration and it did not measure up.
Surprise- quality slicer August 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I wanted a spiral slicer for raw foods, but I didn't want to put out the money for the expensive japan ones, since I am just getting into raw foods. The Joyce Chan saladacco just looked to cheap and limited on the amount of food it could do, so I went with the World Cuisine. I thought it would be compared to the crappy one walmart sells, but was I surprised. It actually is solidly built for being plastic, the 3 different blades are easy to switch out, and it works great on all the raw food I put through it, which has been a lot of vegetables lately. It does leave a little core from where the food spins on the blades, but I just take the little core and put it in with the sliced vegs. I love how zucchini strands come out for raw pasta and how I can get creative with the three different blades, kinda fun. I paid about $40 for this and worth every penny, oh yea, also very easy to clean.
A worthy purchase July 23, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
So far, after having the spirooli slicer for 3 weeks, I am quite happy with the product. I have one complaint which would not prevent me from buying it again. Main complaint, the fact that it is made of plastic: I don't fully trust that the plastic crank arm will last forever but it works well and is easy to clean. The plastic arm you must use to apply pressure allowing the vegetable you are slicing to sit tightly against the cutting blades seems like a handle waiting to break. So I don't even use it. I have to place a thumb below the crank and my fingers grip the top of the slicer in order to apply enough even pressure to push the vegetable up against the blade while cranking it. An irritating design flaw. I would prefer that it was made out of stainless steel.
Other than that I am very happy with the product. It does exactly what it says it should do. As a matter of fact, the first time I used it on zucchini, it created an 18 foot long noodle!! Of course, THAT fascinated everyone. I've used it on yams, carrots, onions, zucchini and cucumber....all of which turned out just as I wanted.
