3 out of 5 stars funny movie   October 5, 2008
this movie was ok. i thought it would be more informative like super size me was. but it was mostly his stand up comedy. this was pretty funny but i was expecting more.

4 out of 5 stars It fits the bill   October 3, 2008
While this movie certainly lacks certain production value qualities the base idea is a good one. Comedian Doug Benson, after watching 'Super Size Me' writes a joke about how he would like to do his own version called... 'Super High Me.' As it turns out someone in the audience thought it was a decent idea and there you have it, a movie.

While not of the same stunning conclusionary aspects of Super Size Me Benson's travels through 30 days of sobriety followed by 30 days of smoking marijuana consistently for the entirety of his day.

This was my first introduction to Doug Benson and I found him stealing almost every scene, picture in your mind his Mother while she waits for him and you'll get an idea what I'm talking about. The science, the honesty, and the realization that a standup comic could probably make that lifestyle work for him, all make this movie a top pick for anyone of the Ganja variety. You will learn a little bit about the effects of marijuana on both the body and memory recall, as well as a bit of psuedoscience testing psychic ability.

Overall a very funny film but enjoy what there is to be said the various ironies throughout. If you pick this up expecting it to be well crafted as a piece of film you will be sorely disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Very Funny & Informative   September 28, 2008
The best documentary I have ever seen on the subject at hand, and a very funny one at that.

2 out of 5 stars "I Never Inhaled."   September 27, 2008
Like another pot documentary (Waiting to Inhale), this film falls flat on intelligent dialogue and production values. Doug Benson reveals himself not to be a stoner, so much as a comedian whose gimmick is marijuana. There are many scenes when Doug doesn't inhale, but puffs out his cheeks and quickly blows out the smoke. And when he does actually take a toke, we do not get to see the effects the drug has on him.

The cover of the DVD is the only thing the filmmakers put any effort into. This film is too much documentary, not enough Cheech & Chong. At no time does Doug seem to be "super high." Not funny and not enlightening.

3 out of 5 stars Could have been better....   August 12, 2008

Let me start by saying that I am a proponent of both decriminalization and legalization (with regulations) so this review is not of the topic but the way it was presented. My review is basically that the topic was solid but Doug didn't follow it through. It's like writting a thesis paper and having a strong introduction and not enough information in the body of the paper. He could have done a lot more simply by giving more facts about marijuana and it's use. I expected something more like Super Size Me meets Grass, and sadly this isn't that movie.
