Good Product for the Price May 13, 2008 This OBD-II code reader is really handy! I originally acquired it because one of our cars occasionally throws a nuisance error causing a check-engine light. It's paid for itself many times over, since getting a mechanic to plug in their code reader costs about the same amount. The interface is very simple- plug it in (the port is under the dash on the driver's side of most vehicles built after 1996), turn on the ignition, and scroll through the codes with one button. The other button will clear codes. Please note that this device displays only alphanumeric OBD-II codes; you need to look up what the generic code means online or in the included booklet / CD. The scanner also does not display car manufacturer's "special" codes, so you might not be able to get a complete picture of what is going wrong (but the major problems are covered by the generic codes). A very useful product, if only to clear nuisance errors or prevent mechanic rip-off!
Good product for the price May 12, 2008 Actron CP9125 PocketScan Diagnostic Code Reader for OBDII (Post-1996) Vehicles I got my engine light on and repair shops gave me estimate of 100 to 420 dollers..to fix it I got this instrument and found the code got my car fixed in less then 150 ...I am vey happy with it
Good things come in small packages May 5, 2008 The Actron CP9125 paid for itself many times over. For weeks I have been trying to get my car inspected only to back at the last minutes because of the "service engine soon" light. It has been raining cats and dogs for days in the Western New York area so I assumed this light was due to wet cables. The hundred dollars that had paid before to have someone read the p300 code and tell me that nothing was wrong with my car confirmed that even more. I followed the easy to read instructions to the T and cleared the p300 code whenever it poped up. Then waited till it was sunny to have car inspected and success at last. Thank you to the wonderful people of Actron for having designed such a wonderful and easy to use product.
handy helper, Actron CP9125 May 3, 2008 This little puppy does display codes, even pending ones, quite remarkably. Once the code is received, one needs to search the Internet for a solution and more. After getting reliable suggestions on curing the code, one needs to go basic and check all sensors involved in the code. I found a bird feather, problem resolved. A higher end device may not have solved the problem, sensor outputs are based upon MAF and is's adjustment vs fuel. This device in the hands of one willing to troubleshoot a problem is as handy as a wrench. The price is right and it works very well.
Actron Pocket scanner - Great for the price May 1, 2008 I purchased this item to scan a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. It worked perfectly, it took all of about 3 minutes to read the documentation and 1.5 minutes to have a read out. The code meaings it provided were very basic. I ended up looking the codes up online and the Actron website for answers on what the OBDII codes ment.
