Amazon.com Review This whopper of a skillet can barely be lifted by one person when it's empty, so keep a fellow cook handy if you have to move it when it's full of fried chicken! Measuring 20 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep, the skillet cooks up enough fish, hamburgers, eggs and bacon, or pancakes to feed the whole hunting or fishing party. Bayou Classic makes this monster out of rugged cast iron, so it's sturdy enough for just about any cooking situation-a campfire, outdoor gas or patio stove, indoor stove top or oven, you name it. To clean, simply rinse and scrub the skillet without detergent after each use. No assembly is required. Before the first use, the cast-iron skillet should be seasoned at least once and preferably several times. This will help prevent rusting and creates a nonstick finish. After washing and drying thoroughly, the skillet should be coated with solid vegetable shortening, such as lard or bacon fat (not butter or margarine). Let the skillet 'bake' in a 300-degree-F oven for one hour, then remove and wipe off the excess. Spraying with a non-stick shortening after each use can also help season the pan. Bayou Classic makes a full range of heavy-duty cookers and cookware for the outdoor chef. --Ann Bieri

table top cooking September 30, 2008 We cut a hole in our round table on the lanai and set this pan in it. We have a propane burner underneath and now the whole family can sit around the table and cook their own food and enjoy each others company. We placed a small pan of water in the center to boil noodles and leafy vegetables. Then each person selects from a wide variety of raw meats, veggies and cooks their own meal right in the same pan as everyone else.
The pan is huge, heavy and could cook enough fried chicken for an army. It may work in a conventional over for deep dish pizza.
Was WELL worth the $24.95 (including shipping) I Paid September 29, 2008 I ordered this pan when it was $24.95 (or maybe it was $19.95) including free shipping. It was a great deal. Even though it was poorly packaged, it arrived in good shape. I scrubbed it down well, greased it with tallow and baked it as 300-350F in a giant convection over for several hours. It came out nice and works well for a number of things.
Simply the best skillet July 28, 2008 This skillet is awesome and well worth the money! My husband has used this almost every weekend at the campground. We can cook entire meals at one time using just one skillet! Excellant workmanship on the product as well. A must have for any camper!
20" cast iron skillet June 7, 2008 This 20" cast iron skillet is huge. It is large enough to cook 6 pounds of shrimp at once. If the need to cook really large amounts of food is your task, then this is the item for you. It is heavy and it will need to be seasoned before first use.
Super skillet June 6, 2008 This thing's huge, and heavy. Cast iron at its best. You'll feed 10 people from the same pan. This is outdoor cookware. Fine product, just too big for me!
