Penguin gourds are named for their "penguin" shape. They look much like a summer crookneck squash, except they are smooth-skinned. This gourd grows from 8" to 20" long depending on the growing season and care. The Penguin gourd is also known as the "Powderhorn" gourd or "Calabash" gourd. Pick gourds, when the vine is dry. Allow the gourd to dry in airy, warm location. Drying is complete when the seeds rattle inside. Penguin Gourds can grow on trellis or on the ground.
