Amazon.com Review
Powered with next-generation sonic technology, the Elite 7300 cleans teeth with dentist precision. A tapered brush head with extra-soft, contour-fit bristles sits atop a slim, angled neck--improving reach to hard-to-brush areas. The 7300 features the Smartimer, which shuts off the brush automatically after two minutes, as well as the Quadpacer interval timer, which beeps every 30 seconds, allotting each quadrant of the mouth equal brushing time. The 7300 includes one Elite series brush head, a charger base with dual-color recharge indicator, and a deluxe travel case. A two-year warranty covers the charger and ergonomically designed Elite handle against defects. --Ann Bieri

Amazon.com Product Description
Take your oral health to the next level with the Sonicare Elite 7300. With the power of sonic technology and a number of exclusive cleaning features, the Elite 7300 is a great investment in your total health. Plus, with a two-year warranty, you can be sure that the Elite 7300 is made to last.

Sonicare technology generates 31,000 bristle sweeps per minute. Laboratory studies show that it removes harmful plaque bacteria up to 4 mm beyond the bristle tips -- even below the gum-line.

The Elite brushes have a tapered, lightweight handle, angled neck and advanced brush head design, making brushing more effective and enjoyable.

Bacteria colonies before exposure to Sonicare.

After Sonicare exposure at 4 mm distance, demonstrating Sonicare's "beyond the bristles" performance.
Design
The Elite's brushes have a tapered, lightweight handle, angled neck and advanced brush head design, making brushing more effective and enjoyable. The design also allows you to spend time on hard-to-reach areas and trouble spots without risking enamel wear. The Elite features a slim, angled neck, contour-fit, extra gentle bristles and a unique ergonomic, lightweight handle.

Sonic Technology
Inspired by the technologies of much more expensive dental equipment, Sonicare creates dynamic fluid cleaning action. It works like tiny, but powerful sonic waves, dislodging plaque that isn't normally reachable by a manual brush, or the oscillating or rotating movement of other power brushes. In fact, dynamic fluid cleaning action can actually make it easier to clean plaque below the gum-line. The bristles on a Sonicare play an important part as well. Their high-velocity movement creates the dynamic fluid cleaning action, while allowing for direct contact with each tooth. Sonicare's bristles are also designed to be extra gentle on teeth and gums.

Smartimer
Smartimer is the automatic shut-off feature in your Sonicare brush that helps encourage you to brush for two minutes, which is the dental professional recommended brushing time. It's simple -- after two minutes, your Sonicare shuts off. If at any time during brushing you momentarily stop the brush to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer pauses its timing so that you can pick up where you left off. Although two minutes is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the brush at any time by pressing the power button. Whenever the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a full brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also automatically resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for longer than 45 seconds.

Easy-start
Because the sensation created by Sonicare's dynamic fluid action is unique, Sonicare has a feature that lets your gums get accustomed to it over the first 12 to 14 uses. All Sonicare models come with the Easy-start feature activated, which helps you adjust to brushing with Sonicare. The Easy-start feature is active on your brush if you hear 2 beeps immediately after turning on your Sonicare. Once you reach optimal brushing power, you will no longer hear the double beeping at the beginning of your brushing routine.

Quadpacer
Quadpacer makes sure that you brush all four quadrants of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. At 30-second intervals (30, 60 and 90 seconds for a 2-minute brushing cycle), you will hear a short beep and a pause in brushing action. This is your signal to move to the next section of your mouth. Quadpacer makes it easy to clean all areas of the mouth equally well.

Recharge Gauge
If your Sonicare features a Recharge Indicator, and the handle is placed into the charger, the charge indicator LED will blink green as the battery charges. When the battery reaches full charge, the charge indicator LED will glow steady green until the handle is removed from the charger base. When your Sonicare is turned on or off, the charge indicator LED will blink yellow if the battery charge is low. You will also be notified, via three rapid beeps, that you have three or fewer brushings remaining.

Dual Speed Control
This feature lets you set the brushing power to work with your needs. Choose normal speed for optimal plaque removal and reduced speed for gentle cleaning of sensitive areas.

4 out of 5 stars e7300 vs. e3000: Science Speaks Out (in Haiku!)   August 15, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

Too many reviews;
I'll do this one in Haiku!
Let's dive into it.

Saw all prior views
of Sonicare customers
Amazon provides.

Key to the debate:
whether cheaper is better,
or price wins the day.

Higher on dollars --
e7300 ("e seventy-three hundred") --
this very brush here.

Then there is this brush (Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Power Toothbrush (Blue))
Cheaper, with features to match
(save only a few).

We bought both brushes,
one each for my wife and me.
Experimented.

Used both Sonicares.
Brushed ev'ry night, she and I.
Same treatment, same care.

Endlessly we sparred.
Three months later, here we are.
One emerged victor.

Three months was too much --
for the cheaper brush was crushed.
Suddenly it died.

No water damage,
no mishandling, no neglect.
It just died -- kaput!

Here is my advice:
for relability
shun the cheaper brush.

Yet consider thus:
THIS costs three times more than THAT.
It should give you pause.

You'll likely agree:
THAT must fail three times 'fore we
declare this the best.

For is this not true:
fail three times before I do
end up losing out?

The price of this, though
more reliable, cannot
beat the other's cost.

Friend, it's up to you.
Buy this or try two of those;
Less than three duds wins!

5 out of 5 stars Recommended by my dentist   August 14, 2008
works great, teeth feel cleaner than with a regular tooth brush. i can also see a difference after using the sonicare, my teeth are noticably whiter.

4 out of 5 stars Great for Teeth, Not so Great for Hygenity   July 30, 2008
We first bought this toothbrush through our dentist and it seemed worth the price tag. Our whole family used the same toothbrush, thanks to the interchangeable heads. At first, the buzzing was VERY strong, which kind of made it funny to watch my sister get the giggles (if you are ticklish, WATCH OUT!) The toothbrush works well and keeps my teeth clean. It has two settings for power and has a sturdy design. But after a while, something gross appeared. Black mold residue stuff appeared where the toothbrush head goes. You can't see it if you never take off the head, but if you are frequently switching heads, it is extremely difficult NOT to notice. The outside part of the toothbrush isn't too difficult, but the inside that you can see when the head of the tootbrush is removed is ridiculous to clean. But, if you can get over your fear of that (it's never hurt me!) then this is a good toothbrush and will keep your chompers squeaky clean!

5 out of 5 stars Your dental hygienist can tell the difference...   July 27, 2008
Upon my dentist's recommendation, I bought a Sonicare toothbrush when I got braces more than 3 years ago. (I'm in my late 20's.) At the time the toothbrush was about $200. This was a lot of money, but I agreed that if I was going to spend $6000 on braces another $200 would be worth it if it meant the fixed teeth wouldn't be cavity ridden when the braces came off. (Braces = A LOT! of nooks for food build up = cavities.)

After I started using the Sonicare, every time I went to the dental hygienist or ortho assistant (and these people were in different offices & rotated, so the original recommending dentist was not getting a kick back) they could definitely tell the difference between my using a Sonicare vs. a regular brush (or a cheap electronic toothbrush knockoff).

I have had my braces off for more than a year (no post-braces cavities), and the dental hygienists still remark on what good health my teeth are in because of the Sonicare toothbrush I use.

Now my entire family uses Sonicare exclusively including my poor starving-student baby brother and my mother who has severe carpotunnel. (She can handle the vibrations about 90% of the time, but the Sonicare is still much easier for her to use than a regular toothbrush--and definitely more effective.)

Consider a Sonicare an investment in your oral health and spend the money! Even if you prevent only one cavity (which going by my family's history, it absolutely does), the Sonicare will pay for itself!

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   July 24, 2008
The Sonicare Elite e7300 power toothbrush is a wonderful product which cleans your teeth extremely well. When we go to the dentist's office for our 6 mo. check ups the hygienest says it's so easy for her to clean our teeth because we use the electric toothbrush. It does the work for you ...no need to scrub your teeth!
