Amazon.com Product Description The Freud Difference Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo -- a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry. About the SD500 Product Family The SD500 series of dado sets cuts everything from veneered plywoods and laminates to solid wood, chip and splinter-free with a super smooth, flat bottom. These dado sets were the first to include a 3/32-inch thick chipper and offer the flexibility of an adjustable dado to handle today's undersized plywood. This allows the cut width to be adjusted in 1/32-inch increments and doubles the number of slot widths available. A shim set is also included with the dado set for fine adjustments. Use it on all table saws, and radial arm saws for cutting slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in softwood or hardwood About the SD508 Super Dado Freud's 8-inch Super Dado set produces smooth, square-bottom grooves and rabbets. Stacked dado sets like this one are more accurate and reliable than wobble dados, which leave a rounded bottom in the groove and can cause splintering and chipping. But Freud's Super Dado set is especially good at producing smooth, chip-free results in plywoods and veneers. This set features Freud's unique kickback-reducing design for safe dadoing even when you're using it in a radial-arm saw. The set includes two outside blades, six four-wing chippers, and a set of shims, and it stores in a handy protective case. Applications Use this dado set to cut veneered plywoods, laminates, solid wood, chip and splinter-free woods. This set is not recommended for non-ferrous, ferrous metals, or masonry. Warranty Freud blades are covered by a limited lifetime guarantee.

Accurate and gives flat-bottomed dados August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this set to replace a Freud dial dado set that would not fit my saw. I used it this weekend on a run of really hard rosewood. No chipout, no tearing, and smooth, flat bottoms. Measurements are right on. Doesn't get any better than that.
My only complaint about this set is the packaging. Freud needs to come up with something more robust than a soft plastic box with a paperweight, blow-molded interior. The interior arrived damaged from the blades.
great product, lousy package January 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The plastic package was damaged in transit; not surprising given the weight of the blades and the sharpness of the teeth. I cut multiple 3/8 x 1 1/2 dadoes in maple end grain. flawless and effortless. it deserves the highest marks (although Amazon gets a "D-" for packing).
Best dado yet! December 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far the cleanest cutting dado I have used. I regret wasting money on the wobble or the El cheapo imports.
Although I have not used the Forrest dado, for the money you really can't beat it. The best $160 I've spent this year.
I believe I got the "blinged" out version, it says ICE coating on the outside and looks to be chrome dipped. Did not come studded with diamonds though.
It doesn't last...poor quality November 13, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this several months ago and have used it quite a bit. I hadn't used all the chippers at one time until the other day. When I attempted to use the chipper I hadn't used before the hole is not round, its oval, so it doesn't fit on the saw. Next, one of the chippers broke. The blade part, which is welded on flew off. I mainly used this with plywood and used my Forrest for other wood. I have to say, there is no comparison between the two in quality and cut.
Timberline is BOGUS .. Avoid Game Playing and Shill Accounts September 3, 2007 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
Timberline has some shill seller accounts they use to deflect negative reviews. They have a lot more negatives than they are showing. If they run one of their bogus offers they charge your card then cancel the order. Then when you go back to the offer it was from one of their front shill sellers so they avoid the negative feedback. Nice way for them to move to the top of the movers and shakers list and then sell at normal price by canceling all the orders at the bait price. AVOID TIMBERLINE theyFreud SD508 Super Dado 8-Inch Stack Dado are bogus!!!!!!
