Product Description

With 150,000 copies sold, bestselling authors Bill and Pam Farrel have a fun new cover on their biblical wisdom, solid insight, and humorous anecdotes—all served up in just the right combination so that readers can feast on enticing ways to

  • keep communication cooking
  • let gender differences work for—not against—them
  • help each other relieve stress
  • achieve fulfillment in romantic relationships
  • coordinate parenting so kids get the best of both Mom and Dad

The Farrels explain why a man is like a waffle (each element of his life is in a separate box) and a woman is like spaghetti (everything in her life touches everything else). End–of–chapter questions and exercises make this unique and fun look at the different ways men and women regard life a terrific tool for not only marriage, but also for a reader’s relationships at work, at home, at church, and with friends.

5 out of 5 stars On target, easy to apply.   October 3, 2008
I have used this book to teach several marriage relationship classes and have always received great response to the material. The Farrels take the "Mars and Venus" idea and make it much more applicable to everyday life for real couples. Whether you're in a new marriage, a long established marriage, or just contemplating getting married, this book will help you understand your and your mate's motivations and reactions.
Highly recommended based on much usage.

4 out of 5 stars You get what the title promises!   August 11, 2008
Cute book with good metaphors. Easy read and good lessons for understanding how the "other side" thinks.

5 out of 5 stars Very true   May 28, 2008

This is a great book. Stereotypical men v. stereotypical women. Being one of the afore mentioned men. Right on. Hilarious and accurate. Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 stars EXTREMELY Simplistic   April 25, 2008

I read "Red Hot Monogamy" by this couple, and I found some of the same things to be true in this book, but they took it to a whole new level of "cheesy" with this one. Unfortunately, they use more email forward stories (actual things I've received in email forwards) than original material. I was extremely disappointed to find that - especially after their glowing review by Dr. James Dobson. I actually think the concepts are valid, and even somewhat helpful in understanding relationships. However, all the "meat" of what they've written was clouded by the silly, stereotypical junk they pulled together to try and make it funny. I would like to see them focus on being more original and not try so hard to make everything sound like something I could get for free in an email forward.

The beginning of the book was one of the hardest parts to get through. Here is an actual question from a 27 question quiz given on page 25:

"To prove your love for your wife, you would gladly:
A. Climb the highest mountain.
B. Swim the deepest ocean.
C. Hold her purse while she tries things on at the mall and run the risk that, at any moment, one of the guys might walk by."

It's this kind of "filler" that the book could have done without. Unfortunately, I fear it would have been a very short book without it.

Honestly, I believe their hearts are in the right place, but now I believe they can use that enthusiasm, knowledge and God-given talent to put together something more intellectual and less excruciating to read.

3 out of 5 stars Humor over substance   April 25, 2008

This book doesn't tell you anything new about men & women, but it does give a good reminder with humor. We read it in a ladies' group, but it could be read as a couple. Most of our husbands were reading it over our shoulders anyway. At the end of each chapter there are "questions" or comments that are meant for humor!!! I think a lot of people didn't get this. Look at the end of the book for the more serious & in depth questions. This is a quick read and worth the money. Sure it's a lightweight, but it's still gets couples talking and thinking about each other which is the real intent.
