Amazon.com Product Description Kakuto Chojin delivers a new level of realism where no two fights are the same, and there are no canned reactions: every punch, kick, and counter has a different effect. Heads snap back, sweat flies, muscles flex, legs buckle. Up to four fighters can engage in the action at the same time--go two-on-two or have an all out four-person brawl. Forget fighting pretty boys and supermodels. These are the folks you never want to meet in a dark alley. These fighters are tough--right out of some secret fight club. This is a grim, somber, deadly underworld, where fighters move among the shadows and battles take place on rain-soaked rooftops, dark alleys, and mysterious chambers.

Laughable April 12, 2007 I have to be honest, I'm no expert on fighting games..but this game fails in basically every aspect. Horrible controls, forgettable characters, bad story mode, and probably the worst sound effects ever in a next-gen game. The ONLY reason to pick this game up is because its rare because it was only sold for about a month in stores, and might be a collectible someday, but if your looking for a fighting game on the Xbox run far from this and get Dead or Alive.
DONT BELIEVE THE HATERS! March 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off, let me clear things up. I'm a fighter fan. I've played them all, and yes I consider myself an authority. When I'm not jamming out on Street Fighter, I'm playing some Neo Geo fighter that you've never heard of. Now let me say this: Kakuto is a fantastic, focused, and addictive 3D fighter. Alot of people like to say that this game is as deep as the kiddy pool, and that its all mash.. Thats total bull. If you want a masher, go play Tekken. This game has alot of neat features that reviewers always fail to mention. People should really play the ends and outs of a game before they start bashing and start throwing out 1 star ratings As you've probobly already read, the graphics are no joke. The characters are dark, creepy, and thick and are totally original. The same goes for the stages. If I had to complain about one thing, it would be that its not all that great 1 player. You have no fancy story modes, no unlockables, blah, blah, who cares! Your supposed to play fighting game with friends anyway! I could go on and on about how cool this game really is, but I wont.. Forget all the haters and their reviews, this is the hottest new fighter to come out in a long time. Snatch it up while you still can.
Worst fighting game ever! August 25, 2003 I have the ultimate misfortune of having wasted money on this lousy game. If it were possible to give a rating of zero stars here I would. It is, in my opinion, the WORST fighting game EVER.The characters look like of bunch of clowns, literally -- bad knock off crosses between pro-wrestlers and circus clowns. The skinning looks like plastic. The gameplay is ridiculously easy, not to mention boring and repetitive. The so-called fountains of sparks and such are one corner in one arena. The arenas are all simple squares with no interesting features whatsoever. The blood effects are simply too pathetic to go into. In short this is an elementary tech demo not a finished game and I am shocked that it was ever released in the state it's in. THEY SHOULD PUT A SKULL AND CROSSBONES POISON SYMBOL ON THE PACKAGE BECAUSE YOU WILL DIE OF BOREDOM PLAYING IT!!!
The Only Fans June 21, 2003 My wife and I must be the only fans of this game. I first played it as a demo in XBOX Magazine and I liked it pretty well. I had just got my XBOX and I'm not an expert when it comes to fighting games. Now my wife on the other hand loves these kind of games. Whenever we pass by an arcade, she wants to play the fighting games. And she does well because she picks up the gameplay pretty quickly. It's always amusing to see her beat the eighteen or nineteen-year-old who plays the game for hours and she just figured out how to play. Anyway, I had her play the demo and she loved it. So we searched and found the game at a videogame store for a nice price(this was right after the recall notice). And we have been happily pleased ever since. We both play the game at least three times a week. The only way I can explain the critics of this is that these are people who have a LOT more experience with all kinds of fighting games. And maybe they didn't give this game as much of a chance as it needed. Here are the the pros and cons: PROS: Great Graphics- They characters look amazing and they move like real people. The fighters don't look cartoony but computer animated. They must haved used real people as models because they move eeriely lifelike. The backgrounds are beautifully rendered and colorful. Great Sound- I have a Surround Sound system that takes of advantage of the Dolby Digital 5.1 the game offers. Excellent! Every character has their own theme and the voices and sound effets are well done. Fun Gameplay- The moves are not too hard to learn and there are more than explained in the manual that comes with the game. There are two sets of moves in the game; Kakuto and Chojin. You can't access the Chojin moves without first completing the game with any character with the Kakuto moves. Characters- There are plenty of characters all with different styles to master. And one secret character that is available when beating the game with any one of the characters. CONS The Manual- After buying the game I bought the strategy guide offered by Prima. The guide does a great job of explaining the game, the characters and ALL of the moves. Each character has at least FOURTY moves. The manual that comes with the game does a terrible job of explaing the game. At best, it is incomplete. No Onscreen Move List- After playing DOA 3,MK:DA and Tao Feng, I've noticed you can access a move list in the game. It's too bad KC doesn't do this. It would be more convienent. Finally I just wanted to say this game is a lot of fun.We have played Dead Or Alive 3, Mortal Combat:Deadly Alliance and Tao Feng: Fist Of The Lotus and they are fun but in our opinion Kakuto Chojin just has more STYLE. It's pretty unique and the characters don't seem to be like any I've seen in any other game. This may be the game's downfall as far as public opinion goes. I may buy DOA 3 and Tao Feng in the future but Kakuto Chojin is my third favorite XBOX game behind Max Payne and Halo. Microsoft did a wonderful job. I hope they don't give up on the fighting game market. I can tell they are trying to be outside the pack by making KAkuto chojin and Tao Feng.
A step back February 8, 2003 This game is a total disappointment. Gameplay is relatively simple, moves are limited, and the characters don't seem to move right. In addition, the character's skin has a shiny "Barbie Doll" surface look to it (just doesn't look right). This game gets boring fast. I don't recommend it unless you can pick it up really cheap.
