Book Description The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence. The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of lifeand for building a better world. About the Author ECKHART TOLLE is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of the ancient spiritual masters: There is a way out of suffering and into peace. Eckhart travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.

don't waste your money May 18, 2008 The only reason I read this was because it was on my bookclub reading list. I thought it was a waste of time.
A Beautiful Book About Living in The Now May 17, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Joanne Scaglione, Author:Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook I loved this book...it really validated everything I believe. Living in the now is the route to happiness. Mr. Tolle does a wonderful job of embracing Buddhist concepts and writing in an easy-to-read fashion. This book is an enlightening experience and should be read by all. As I tried to design my book- it is an awakening.
This will change your life! May 17, 2008 This book is for the spiritual awakening occuring worldwide. If you are seeking enlightenment this book will be a powerful tool for you. There are many references from Christ and Buddha that will add to the understanding of their words. It will teach you how to create heaven on earth and awaken the awareness of our connection with all humanity as well as our planet. Oprah recently ran a 10 week live webcast with Eckhart Tolle and this is the book we studied.
There is another book like this, but MUCH better... May 17, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
it's called the Bible. Tolle's book is New Age mysticism mixed with amateur Buddhism and a dash of Gnosticism. There is one God, one Savior, and One Way. People will always be looking for the "Next Big Thing" (like this book) when the Real Thing has been there all along.
Come to an understanding that there is absolute right and wrong. The wrong is called "sin". Know that you sin, and that you therefor are a sinner. Know that you need forgiveness and that only God is in the position of authority to grant your pardon as He is the arbiter of all and the author of everything. Know that Jesus, God's only son, was God in human flesh (so that God might be identified with and through His creation) and that Jesus came to teach the way to salvation through himself. Know that Jesus died to pay for your sins, so that you would not pay for them in Hell (which was created for Satan and his angels, by the way, NOT as a punishment for us- it is only by refusing God's easy way to salvation that we condemn ourselves *yes, WE do it* to Hell). Know that by simply accepting Jesus' sacrifice and believing in the power of atonement through the blood he shed on the cross, and His subsequent rising from the dead (which exemplified his victory over sin *The wages of sin is death*) that you also may partake in an eternity in Heaven and meet the Creator of the universe and live in His presence forever.
Repent, believe, be Saved. It's so much easier than buying books and spending years or decades searching aimlessly.
As for the scoffers- Whether or not you believe is irrelevant. Oxygen can not be seen and yet we die without it. God simply IS. It's up to you to choose. Please do so wisely.
PS They wouldn't let me give this book zero stars, otherwise...
A New Earth is awakening me! May 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am very glad that I purchased this book, then the audio book because it is so different than anything I've ever heard about spirituality. I am a Christian, so I had to have an open mind to listen and/or read it because it focuses on life and living in a very different way. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you find you don't agree with Eckhart Tolle's way of thinking, because it is still enlightening.
