Product Description THE EAGERLY AWAITED COLLECTION OF PERSONAL ESSAYS FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF MY HORIZONTAL LIFEWhen Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power -- vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea's world -- a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense. In this hilarious, deliciously skewed collection, Chelsea mines her past for stories about her family, relationships, and career that are at once singular and ridiculous. Whether she's convincing her third-grade class that she has been tapped to play Goldie Hawn's daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or looking out for a foulmouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her...only smaller, Chelsea has a knack for getting herself into the most outrageous situations. Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea showcases the candor and irresistible turns of phrase that have made her one of the freshest voices in comedy today.

hilarious November 16, 2008 This book is amazing. Her antidotes are so outrageous and funny. It is a really good way to juxtapose a stressful life by reading a few pages.
Kathy Griffin on ludes November 14, 2008 I almost didn't buy this book because The New York Times review mentioned Kathy Griffin. "The everywoman spirit of Kathy Griffin" is what's quoted on Amazon but I remember the wording slightly differently. Rest assured Chelsea Handler is nothing like Kathy Griffin. Or Sarah Silverman. Or Tina Fey. It's like the NYT tried to just drop in every comedy it girl it could think of. Get a thesaurus. Of people.
Chelsea is a comedian and her essays don't scuttle even as close to the thought-provoking tree as, say, David Sedaris. I have to admit my joy may have been related to so many recent skull-liquifying experiences with "humor" books. This one is funny. She has a schtick and you have to appreciate the vapid whore persona or you just won't get anything from it. But then why would you buy a book called Are You There, Vodka anyway?
I HEART CHELSEA! November 10, 2008 this is honestly the funniest book i have ever read. i was at home by myself laughing histerically! i have even bought a couple for gifts. i absolutely LOVED it!
A Very Funny Book November 10, 2008 I have to say that this was probably the funniest book I've ever read. I could not put it down. It was hilarious! Chelsea Handler is so funny.
A must buy!
Laugh Out Loud Funny... November 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So, I'm a huge fan of Chelsea Handler and this book is clearly why....
Chelsea is amazing and laugh out loud funny... I don't often laugh out loud while reading, sometimes a little chuckle or giggle comes out, but with this one, I was almost crying I was laughing so hard...
She is very relatable; you laugh at her because you've seen yourself with your own friends in the situations she gets herself in ..
I suggest reading My Horizontal Life by her first, then this one. It's not necessary, but recommended!
Oh yea... and this book probably takes about 2 hours to read, once you start reading it, it's hard to put it down. it is the same with her other book...
