Editorial Reviews:

Book Description
Encounter the Enlightened is a guiding beacon of divine wisdom and inspiration for all persons seeking self-realization and an experience of the unbounded nature of life. Master, mystic and yogi Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev presents a rare glimpse of undiluted truth from discourses given to yoga disciples and other audiences at his ashram in south India and around the world. A tool of tremendous value in an age imprisoned by materialism and dogma, these dialogues are an essential key to inner exploration of the profound questions of humanity: Who am I? Why are we here? What happens after death? What is the meaning of life? The master speaks with undeniable logic and wisdom that penetrates the deepest realms of our heart and soul.

Encounter the Enlightened examines some of the most controversial social and spiritual issues of our time through the lens, wisdom and words of an enlightened being whose teachings are simple and pristine. Sadhguru's compelling and often-provocative responses lead readers to an understanding of the ego that keeps us in bondage, the fragmentary nature of the mind and the crippling conditioning of society. Sadhguru presents a possibility to transcend the limitations of the three-dimensional world and awaken the absolute - the ultimate fulfillment. In the words of Sadhguru, the fruit of such an awakening is that "you can go through life untouched, you can play with life whichever way you want and still life cannot do anything to you; life does not leave scars on you. That is the miracle that we are working to manifest in everybody's life."

The book is a rare gem for all who seek truth beyond solace and who are willing to abandon sensibilities for the sacred. It is a glimpse of the divine potential that we are.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   July 30, 2008
Sadhguruji is a blessing to us all. He could be making billions in a business of his choosing, instead he has chosen to help make the world a better place to live. The book is amazing and I could not put it down. I have taken an Inner Engineering course from Isha and it is well worth the small fee that they charge. It has changed my life for the better, so I also encourage those that read my review to consider a course. Also check the Mystic out on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jagOYDYACg

1 out of 5 stars WARNING   July 18, 2008
Before you read this book, keep in mind that Sadhguru is the leader of Isha Foundation. This "yoga" group charges significant fees for its services and yet has many non-paid full time volunteers. Be sure to do background research on the group.

5 out of 5 stars Who am I?   July 2, 2008
The way skeptic I was, this book blew me away completely. I am going to treasure this book forever. A must read, Period.

5 out of 5 stars An incredible book by an incredible man   June 7, 2008

This book blew me away. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev explains the fundamentals of life with a clarity and logic absent in most books of this nature. He comprehensively answers questions about life, spirituality, and meditation that I have been looking for all my life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in meditation or spirituality.

2 out of 5 stars A Good Primer   May 24, 2008

This book is OK for someone starting out on the path to self realization. In other words, who is the Self??? Ramana Maharshi was a great soul, and he asked, "Who am I?" This book begins to explain the difference between the ego and the real Self. I was hoping to find something new, but there is nothing unusual here. Maybe I should stop reading these books on enlightenment and just "be". Then God appears. If you are starting out, this book will help you on your journey to unlearning. There is nothing Biblical here. This is for people who want to grow spiritually.
