5 out of 5 stars My favorite book light yet...   April 21, 2007

I can't tell you how many book lights I've gone through until I bought this one. They were all either too flimsy, too heavy, not bright enough, etc., etc. This one sits on the pillow and shines on your book. The base is weighted like a bean bag, and shifts to accomodate the surface you've set it on. The light itself can be rotated to hit the book just right. It takes 4 AA batteries, a relief from those book lights that require specialty batteries. I think I've had this one a year now and haven't tired of it yet.

5 out of 5 stars Readers Rejoice   December 3, 2006

My wife and I have had the same issue for over 30 years....she actually hits the sack to sleep right away, where as I hit the sack and MUST READ...I...CANNOT....SLEEP...UNLESS...I....READ....FIRST...

Yes, it's true. I confess. Guilty as charged. Reader here.

Now, at home, we've adjusted to my insanity...she'll stay up a bit later or go to bed a bit earlier. I use a lamp that is fairly directional as well...

The problem was Hotel stays...no way around being in the same space at the same time..and, it is crutial that I read when staying in a strange place...

Enter the RayOvac...OK, they sent me a pink one...it's funny looking...it's PINK for cryin' out loud...but, it works and it works well. The lighting is as unobtrusive as it can be, my mate can still get to sleep...(although I must say that over the years I have come to believe she has see thru eyelids) ...and it can be positioned as needed... It has become a part of my suitcase, along with my scented candle, my heating pad and my ice bag.

I have had a set of batteries in mine for months, they still work fine. The unit provides adequate reading illumination where and when you need it. Bravo... Uncle Willie

1 out of 5 stars It would be a good item but...   September 30, 2006

the "colors may vary" meant, in the case of those shipped on my order, two lights that were a *bad* shade of pink. I'm usually able to look beyond that sort of thing, but these look horrible. The form kills the function.

4 out of 5 stars Good product overall....battery holder could be better   July 29, 2006

This product works as advertised. I bought 3 of them, one for my wife and 2 boys. While the LED light is bright for the person reading it is narrowly focused and does not flood the room. I can easily fall asleep facing towards or away from the light. I almost always fall asleep within 5 minutes of hitting the pillow though :-) The beanbag bottom makes positioning the light pretty easy and comfortable. The only gripe I have with this product is the battery compartment. It must be removed from the light before you can change the batteries and it can be a little awkward for people with thicker fingers. There is not much space on either side of the battery compartment to grip it. That's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Not a deal breaker for us though.

5 out of 5 stars Better than ALL the rest!   July 8, 2006

I've been through a dozen book lights and this one is, by far, the best one I have ever used! Even better than a bedside table lamp! It's easy to position, the light is nice and bright (although it may take a minute or two to get used to it). The light is also very focused so it shouldn't disturb any other people who might be sleeping beside you. It also seems to be quite sturdy and would be able to withstand falling behind the bed or being dropped on the floor, etc. If you need a reading light for your bed, this should be the one you buy!
