It's Great January 22, 2001 This is a great movie, which begins with Simba and his friend going to the hyenas' terrain. Simba's father finds out and jumps down a cliff to save them, but dies. Simba blames himself and runs away. He meets two new friends and grows into a full-grown lion. Then Simba's old friend finds him and makes him come back because Simba's uncle Scar is king and has let the hyenas take over. The lions are starving and dying. Simba comes back. The lions overthrow Scar and the kingdom becomes happy again when Simba becomes king. This is great movie and if you haven't seen it, SEE IT!
The best disney movie of all time October 31, 2000 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As my personal opinion this is my favorite disney movie of all time! This is the greatest disney movie I've seen since Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. I think its heart breaking too and for those who haven't seen it yet I won't ruin the plot or the movie in anyway. First off the Character Build up is great, and so is the Music. I saw the movie in theaters a great 6 years ago, and thought it was the best animated movie I'd ever seen. The music is so touching and the songs are great. The voice actors are really good too. This is the greatest of disneys movies.
Over-rated October 23, 2000 2 out of 20 found this review helpful
Ok, I'm losing patients with Disney(thought I do admit I never had much to begin with). The Lion Kind is very strong in some places but at the same time is very weak. The animation is excellent, some of the best to ever come out of Disney and the majority of the cameos are perfectly cast. However, The Lion Kind feels very recycled. The best example of this is the films villian Scar. Simply put, he looks and sounds almost exactly like Jafar did in Aladin(except he's a lion of course). Also while the film has a decent opening(though rather familiar) and a fairly well-done ending, there really isn't much of a middle to it. The Lion King is a good movie but doesn't deserve all the praise it has gotten.
Are Disney Mad? October 5, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, so I haven't seen the DVD, as it hasn't been released, but are Disney mad? The Lion King was one of, if not, the most popular Disney animation of all time. If Disney are willing to release TLK: 2 on DVD why not release the first, and in my opinion much better, rendition. I loved this film when it was released 5 years ago, and I always wanted it. As its not available in the UK anymore, I and I'm sure many others, would welcome a DVD release.
Awe-inspiring... September 17, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Lion King has beautiful animation, GREAT songs (Be Prepared sends shivers down my spine), good characters, a brilliant villain (unlike certain other Disney bad guys) and marvellously quotable dialogue. This and Mulan are my favourites, however I can't watch the scene with Mufasa's death because I cry too much. I definitely recommend this film, however I can't bear the Timon and Pumbaa spin-off.
