IT DVD June 11, 2008 This is a favorite movie of mine from Stephen King! With a great, twisting story, it will keep you at the edge of your seat to see what is coming up next! This movie is highly recommended to check out!
One of the few movies I can watch multiple times March 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't even tell you how many times I've turned on the TV and found this movie on... I'd probably seen it ten times, but only once from beggining to end... and I still loved it each time I saw IT. I give it four stars though, just because the monster at the end is pretty lame... but hey, TV budget. Who cares? IT is still the shh IT.
They all float down stream! February 11, 2008 The first thing I said when I watched this movie was "Hey, Seth Green is in here!" Well actully I saw it awhile back but didnt notice Green was in this movie, probably because he wasnt a star then. Anywho, this is a great movie. The special effects are top notch, the cast is made up of all stars, and Tim Curry puts on a chilling performance as the killer clown. This movie does not have gore but it still delivers on the chills. It sort of reminds me of anther King novel turned movie, Stand by Me. Instead of friends looking for a dead body, they are fighting an evil clown that kills children. I do admit the movie is long and there are so cheesy moments, but I still enjoyed this film. I wonder if they had made this movie for theaters, if it would have had more gore. Highly recommend this movie anyways.
Great! February 7, 2008 I love this movie. I still remember when I first saw it. I was 9 years old, and it scared the crap out of me. I was so excited when it came out on dvd as it is one of my favorite movies. The only thing that could possibly give it one less star was the ending which was a little cheesy, but still I liked the overall so much I gave it 5 stars. I don't think you will be disapointed!
The Clown of Doom : Still Terrifying After All These Years January 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My brother and I are to this day absolutely terrified of clowns. Blame it on Pennywise, the hideous beast-clown portrayed so excellently here by Tim Curry. Incidentally this was the first time I had seen Tim Curry in anything, and even when I see his movies today, all I can think of is this movie. To be fair, this WAS a TV film, and watching this recently I was reminded of how movies one watched in the 1980s when one was a child, are now close to unwatchable. Not so with this film, for the most part, because for some strange reason, I had forgotten most of the story - and the chills genuinely worked, all over again.
I read the book "IT" when I was ten years old. Sleepless nights ensued, and when my brother and I first watched the film, we were struck by real, honest-to-goodness terror. This is hardly a movie for children. However, what the book had in eloquence (really, "IT" is perhaps the best-written King novel of them all, because he used some beautiful language and imagery in it), the movie makes up with shocks and thrills, and of course, the clown and his sly smile (and the teeth - good Lord, those teeth) are enough to drive young teens insane with fear.
Still, for people who are watching this for the first time now, it might all be a bit tame. The only thing really scary is the clown, and the horrible music score really dates the film and reveals it as a tacky TV miniseries. Still, that's not bad considering this is still very watchable and it will work perfectly for a Saturday night at home with friends. Another thing - it holds up to repeat viewing, another plus in this day and age, so you might want to consider actually buying a copy. This is cool, vintage `80s terror, and what a great era that was.
