thorough workout April 27, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This workout makes me sweat. It's hard but doable. Great for losing weight or toning up.
Looking forward to being a "Loser".... April 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a vast collection of fitness DVD's I don't utilize as much as I should (call it simple "laziness" on my part), so initially when I noticed this DVD had come to market I really had no intention of buying it, largely due to the unused DVD's I already own as well as the mixed reviews Jillian's other DVD's had received. After reading a couple of weeks worth of reviews, though, and reading the positive impact people felt it was having on them I decided to pony up. I am by no means a large/obese person but out of shape with about twenty to thirty pounds to lose and really figured I could use the motivation. As I've always been a big fan of "The Biggest Loser" on t.v. and know how hard-core Jillian can be when it comes to whipping people into shape I thought I should give it a try. I mean, if 300-pound people can handle it, I would hope I could, too.
Thus, I am sitting here having just finished level one circuit and have to admit I am very impressed. I wasn't sure how I would feel about things like push-ups and jumping jacks, but have to say it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, particularly given that she dishes them out in very brief intervals. As I've been in "lazy" mode and have only been doing 40-minute elliptical workouts over the past few months (i.e. nothing challenging with weights, as I know I should be), it will be interesting to see how my body feels when I wake up tomorrow.
So, I am looking forward to doing this DVD several times a week along with continuing my delightful elliptical workouts, and am hoping that this will help propel me to "Loser" status in no time (okay, if not within the 30-days I'm hoping at least sometime shortly thereafter). Thanks Jillian, and thanks to all of the other reviewers for sharing their stories and making me a believer!
quick and painful! April 27, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great, quick, hard workout. It has 3 20 minute workouts that get harder with each level. I would say it is geared toward intermediate exercisers. I have been exercising for YEARS and started at level 1 for a week. I have been doing level 2 for 2 weeks now and it is still very challenging. The only thing I didn't like about it, is there are no directions with the DVD on how to use it (how many days a week, do you add extra cardio) I was unsure if I should do it every day because you are not supposed to lift weights for the same muscle group every day. BUT a free 30-day trial at jillianmichaels.com was included in mine and I went on the message boards and found some vague answers to my questions. (One person said she e-mailed "them" and they said it was o.k. to do this workout on consecutive days due to the nature of the exercises) It does get a tiny bit tedious doing the workout every day, but it's ONLY 20 minutes!!!!
Great investment for 20 minutes April 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Jillian does an awesome job in this workout. 20 minutes of heart pumping strength, cardio, and abs that shows results within a week. I have been working out for several months and hit a plateau. I start Jillian's shred and started losing again and finally started seeing the toning in my arms and legs. This is a great investment of your money and time. She also does a great job demonstating and explaing the exercises, unlike some of her previous programs which move too fast into the workout.
Good. April 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think Jillian is great! The video is definitely what she makes it out to be..hard and it works! The only thing I had a problem with was the quality of the DVD...it must have had scratches on it because the video was skipping around..other than that it was fine! I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to lose weight.
