Simple tool, simple review August 15, 2008 They are solid. They rotate freely. I've used them in a gym with chalk in the area and the rotating mechanism hasn't gotten clogged / slower.
They are much more comfortable on your wrists than doing pushups on the ground. They allow you to lower yourself to the ground properly with your hands at your sides.
They're simple, and they work great.
Spectacular!! August 12, 2008 The Perfect Pushup is the best compliment to my cardio routine because it completely works my entire upper body, not just my chest and shoulders. I love it!!
Perfect PushUp August 10, 2008 Item is great! Beginners can use against the wall, even myself with back problems. I bought at Linens & Things for $15.99 - WAY OVERPRICED here and several other locations.
Be Careful - Can cause shoulder pain and rotator cuff damage August 2, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This product can cause you serious harm. Be careful. I hurt my right shoulder, probably rotator-cuff, fooling with this device. Do your homework on the internet. Go to youtube and look at WDSUTV's review of the perfect push-up. Dr. Corey Hebert says a traditional pushup does a better job of distributing weight throughout your body and lessens pressure on wrist and hands. He recommends that you not use this product if you have a pre-exisiting joint or rotator-cuff injury. You can find other information on the web. A lot of people experience shoulder pain from using this device. It's not worth the risk
Duly Impressed July 31, 2008 Hi Everyone,
All I can say is wow! I've only been using this product for about a week, and initially didn't bother to read the materials, just basically started doing pus-ups. I found the perfect push-up comfortable and the motion natural, but wasn't overly impressed. At first I thought they felt a bit cheap, and the action wasn't as smooth as the demo floor models at the Costco I bought them at, but I figure those were probably broken in. I just started reading the materials and going through the workouts and now I'm really impressed with how much of a full workout I'm getting. I took their advice to first do as many pushups as I can with good form. I got 26, but didn't feel the last one was really good, so I went for 20 as my starting level. I tried to do the 2 minute drills after that, and my muscles reached failure before I could finish the set. Overall, it feels good though, not like I'm injuring myself. Doing the wide and narrow stances felt kinda bad on my injured shoulders, so I would exercise caution if you use this product with bad shoulders. I think if I'm careful, though, I should do alright.
It's rare for an exercise machine, or an exercise, to make me reach failure so soon. I really don't understand the biomechanics of these instruments. I would have thought that they would make pushups easier NOT harder. And yet, they are both harder and feel better than just doing regular pushups. I feel like I'm using muscles that are normally not worked out by pushups, and overall, I feel like I've done a full upper body workout on multiple machines. So far I highly recommend these. The box I have came with instructions and two, not one, but two DVDs. I can't imagine why I would want to watch them, but I will...maybe I'll learn something... but how many variations of pushups could there be?
