Buying a second one now... November 3, 2008 It does almost everything right. This one has been out for about 4 years, and they've had the time to work out the bugs.
I got my first one about 2 weeks ago, and I'm ordering a second one now.
Very simple user interface. Got it up and playing in about 3 minutes...without looking at the manual. The audio output on the rear is in stereo...but the level is kinda low. I do wish there was a battery back-up for the clock. Bass and treble tone controls would be nice too. Other than those little cons, everything else is great.
I'm betting the second one won't be my last purchase either. I like it that much.
Good sound but a horrible clicking noise November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is my first internet radio. It worked quite well with a good sound for the first three months. Unfortunately, my radio began to produce a clicking noise that makes it very uncomfortable to listen to it as a bedtime radio. Now I'm looking for another better internet radio.
Stopped Working After 3 months October 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The radio worked well for three months then suddenly stopped. The radio was returned for repair or replacement but nothing has been done and it is nearly impossible to reach anyone there as the phone is busy constantly. When I did get through the service person said they had stacks of returns and he wasn't sure when he would get to mine.
Good deal for the money October 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this radio by UPS on 10/27/08. Spent a couple of hours trying to get it beyond the "Initializing Network" stage, which it would not do. Went into the router settings, disabled the router firewall, disabled the WEP security, still without any success. Customer service at this company is only voicemail that does not get answered. Did get through to someone by pressing "sales" and he said the unit was defective and to return it. They do answer their email though. It was way easier and cheaper to return via Amazon than via manufacturer. I took a chance on a replacement unit. Three days later I had the replacement from Amazon and it seems to be working fine. One thing I liked about it right out of the box is that it has an internal power supply instead of a "wall wart" which increases portability and gives it a more solid look. Sound is pretty good for a small speaker. Range is not what I would like, but in all fairness that may well be from the crappy router that I have. My wife liked it right away because I was able to get her favorite talk shows on it. I'm still having fun with the Pandora feature. Overall, I think it is a really good buy for the money. I at first gave it a one star rating but now give it four out of five stars, but Amazon doesn't let me change the rating.
Best Reciva-based Radio October 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my third brand of Internet Radio. It has excellent WiFi receiver sensitivity and connects very quickly. The menu is very intuitive and responsive. Also, the tonal quality is excellent. If you need stereo output, it's easy to attach an external amp and speakers, but I haven't found a need to do so. I've also found that responses to questions to customer support are rapid and complete. The Grace seems to have the best price/performance of anything else I've seen. So I just bought a second one!
Some might find the lack of a remote an issue, but I find just the opposite. It's great not to have to use a remote to get basic functions working! Besides, one of the other Internet radios I own requires a remote, and the remote is very intermittent.
