An Essential Item! September 5, 2008 I bought the Garmin nuvi 660 because we were going on a major trip this summer to Niagara Falls, New York City and Washington D.C., and thought it would be helpful. That was an understatement! It saved us on more that one occasion: When we ran into construction it directed us on a detour around the construction and saved us a lot of time; We ended up arriving in New York City after dark, which for us is scary enough driving during the day! But it guided us to our hotel, and when we accidently missed a turn, it recalculated the directions and got us there with no problems. It has a female voice that speaks the directions along with the written directions on the screen, so you don't have to keep looking at the screen. Of course you can turn the volume down or off. I love this item, and we use it all of the time. Instead of asking for directions to someone's house or a business, we just put in the address and it takes us right to it. One of my favorite features is being able to tap the screen and a list of future directions shows up so we know ahead of time where we need to turn, even though it tells us in plenty of time. (It's comforting to some of us to know way ahead of time.) And being able to search for restaurants and gas stations along the way, and then inserting those directions as a via point. And how it tells you what time you should arrive at your destination! (It's very accurate too. It adjusts the time when there are slowdowns, etc.) Actually I love everything about this product and would recommend it to anyone.
Love my Garmin September 5, 2008 I love my Garmin 660. I recently took a trip cross-country and it was invaluable and worked even in remote areas. The menu is easy to use and it is very handy to be able to search for gas stations and nearby restaurants. The text-to-speech feature is a must and I wouldn't buy a gps without it.
Great Product September 5, 2008 Easy to use. Accurate. I love it and would recommend it to everyone. Definitely worth the extra money for test to speech and for the larger screen.
Very Good Product, but not perfect September 3, 2008 I purchased the Nuvi 660 about a month ago. Set-up was easy, as I own 2 other Garmin GPS, so I was used to it. This is the first one that has bluetooth, and allows a user to connect their phone to the GPS and talk through the GPS instead of using a headset. In theory it is a great thing, but you will find many limitations. I returned another Garmin model as well as a Magellan model because their bluetooth connections were so poor. The Nuvi 660 is better, but not perfect by any means. The 660 also sent me astray one recent trip, and I ended up shutting it off because I was somewhat familiar with the area. Connections to satellites were quick, as opposed to what some have reported. I might just be in a strong signal area. Overall and for the price on Amazon, I am relatively happy with the product and will be keeping it.
