This item works great. I travel to California now and then and it is always an issue how to position my GPS since you can't attach it to the windshield. This solves the problem. It is very stable (more than I thought it would be) and the holder slips out to make packing a breeze. Lots of swivel gives you just about any viewing option you need. And then you can lock that position in place. The price is great here on Amazon. You can't go wrong. I use it more than I had thought (not just in California). When I park the car I just move the whole thing to the floor which hides the fact I have a GPS in the car. I never took the windshield mount down in the past, which was a dead giveaway. Great product. Price is right!

It stands firm on the dashboard, rarely moves and allows the attached GPS to be adjusted to all viewing directions. I just read news about many cars got their windows broken by thieves trying to steal the portable GPS unit when they saw the mount or even a trace mark left by a suction cup on the windshield. With this portable friction mount, I can hide the entire unit in the glove compartment without any trace on the windshield or dashboard.

I like the way you can get your Garmin to move in all directions when attached and then lock it in position. It is really good when you live in a state that bars suction cups on the front window.

This is a perfect solution for an easy and trouble-free Garmin mount on the dashboard.
Advantages:
-Stays in place in most cases for the regular driving
-Solid, functional design
-Can be used in the states where suction cups on the windshield are prohibited (CA)
-Easy theft protection: you can take the unit with you and conceal the mount on the floor without disconnecting it
-Ideal solution for the rental car
Disadvantages
-Size and weight. If this is your permanent mount solution pls check if you have enough space on your dashboard for the mount. It is much bigger, than you may think looking at the pictures.
-Forget about off-road driving, light dirt road may be enough for the mount to slide.
