1 out of 5 stars There are MUCH better ways to loose weight   January 12, 2008
0 out of 12 found this review helpful

Hello my friends,

I have looked over the comments here and elsewhere. Please save your money on any "pill" for weight loss. The results that I have seen are barely on par with just eating the right foods, getting proper rest and exercise. The answer is not in a pill. It never has been.

The pharmaceuticals are making billions a year trying to sell you something to make you feel better or to fix something. The food industry has marketed tons of "quick fix" foods for over 20 years to save you time. They are all in cahoots to make you sick so that they can make you better. And it has been BIG business for a long time. I say "ENOUGH" to these big businesses. Think about it. We all have been "Programmed" by commercials. I say; it's time for all of us to take back control of our lives!

Dr. Hyman has written a book called UltraMetabolism. Ultrametabolism: The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss It works! It works, because the information contained in his book explains what different fats and added ingredients do to you. He breaks down nutrition to the core and tells you how to shop for the right foods and what to stay away from. It is going to require an attitude change and lifestyle change. It's going to require planning for the busy household who relies on meals coming out of a box or can; that has a nutrition label on it.

My friends; big businesses and the government have not done their job to make us healthy and wealthy and wise. Please do not rely on them! Their goal is to get financially FAT at our expense.

I Highly and STRONGLY recommend Dr. Hyman's work to change you life. There is no quick fix on the market. Each of us must take back our lives on our own terms. It starts by becoming educated.

Take care each and everyone of you.

1 out of 5 stars Alli Linked to Colon Cancer   October 12, 2007

I came accross an article that links Alli to
pre-cancerous lesions in the colons of mice.
According to Dr. Sidney M. Wolfe, director of Public
Citizen's Health Research Group, "while it is not
known whether these pre-cancerous lesions will lead to
colon cancer, he and other cancer experts do not
believe use of the weight-loss drug is a risk worth
taking." I agree! I would rather find other ways to
lose weight than risk my life taking Alli!

5 out of 5 stars There is no such thing as a quick fix.   October 9, 2007

Don't expect some pill to magically take the weight away to never-ever land. It takes time and exercise.
But this pill helps.
You do loss much more weight and the quick results are encouraging.
But if you don't eat a low fat diet, you will have issues controlling your bowels and it will end up on your pants.
My husband started at 360, 4 weeks later he's at 320.
I started at 165 and now I'm at 156.

Unless you are committed and capable of loosing some weight with out the pill, don't bother wasting your money.

1 out of 5 stars Be prepared to buy a new wardrobe if you take Alli   July 20, 2007

I tried it for a month. Because it was approved by the FDA I felt safe trying it. The side effects are awful. My hiking was put on hold for a month because I couldn't stray too far from a bathroom. This product gives you gas but not just gas - a disgusting oily, yellow discharge also. You know that feeling you have when your body is telling you it needs to get rid of solid waste, well you start losing your ability to control these muscles, and are lucky if you make it to the bathroom on time. I lost 3 lbs in three weeks (1 lb./week) which is not bad but then I gained the 3 lbs back and an additional 2lbs. Can't understand it because I am watching what I eat. This product causes too much distress in your body so be warned before trying it. It seems my grandmother was right. Just exercise and the weight will come off. Ah, excuse me, I have to run to the bathroom again. Arrgh!

3 out of 5 stars quick results...no- but with time this works   July 16, 2007

I have been using Orlistat ( Alli) for several weeks and while it is not a quick fix, it does assist in weight loss. The directions are adamant saying it takes work on your part and a low fat , decreased calorie diet along with exercise. There is no magic trick to lose weight . It is work and commitment. I lost 5 lbs in the first 8 days of use. Side effects will take place if too much fat is consumed. It is all outlined clearly in the directions. I like this product. Thumbs up to Alli for me. Glad it is available OTC now and not just by prescription.
