Health and Happy after 2 years January 2, 2005 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I live in Peru, in the Andes where, for `gringos', it is imperative to have filtered water or expensive bottle water. I have tested the water that is piped from the town water supply and it had fecal contamination.
I have used the Pur Dispenser for two years and, knock on plastic, have never be sick from bacterial enteropathogens. We are also careful in food preparation (Duh). Though the filter is slated for 40 gallons I have used it for at least twice that with good results.
I highly recommend, both the dispenser, and filter for those that have (or suspect they have) contaminate water.
MMMMM 8 glasses a day... EASY NOW! January 1, 2005 59 out of 61 found this review helpful
Yes I'll admit it, everytime we went grocery shopping we lugged home a few big bottles of "spring water" (what the heck does that mean anyways and why do we think it's better then our tap water, I mean what is really in those plastic jugs?). Given this sudden realization recently I went on a quest to pick a water filter for our tap water, and decided upon this dispenser and I'm so glad I did! It's super easy to fill up, fits nicely into the fridge (plus it's my favorite shade of blue, that's a plus right?) and OMG this is what water is supposed to taste like, nothing... pure & clean & crisp (are you sure this is from my tap?) It's wonderful! I find myself happily filling up a glass with water to drink now instead of juice or tea etc.
Great product June 28, 2004 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful product. The first one I got was cracked (I think from shipping) and I took it right back to Target to exchange it. No problems there. I checked the new one in the store and it was fine. It is easy to use and the water tastes great.
Filter Clogs/Life Monitor Does Not Advance in Large Model June 23, 2004 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have a smaller PUR pitcher with which I am happy, but this gallon size has not made it through one filter yet in a successful fashion. After the life monitor advances about half way through, the water gets stuck in the tray for days at a time and only filters VERY slowly. Also, the life monitor stops advancing. I am certain that it will remain in the same position for years to come. This has happened with two filters already. I hesitate to bother putting in another expensive filter. If I don't know whether the water I am drinking is clean or not, what's the point? Removing and flushing the filter does absolutely nothing. I bought this large size because I drink a lot of water, but it was WASTED MONEY. I recommend sticking with the smaller pitcher sizes.
Love, love, love it! April 22, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this as a wedding gift, and I have to say it's the best gift ever. I drink a lot of water, and this handy water container is the best I've had. It holds a lot of water, and it's so convenient. I like that I don't have to take it out of the fridge to get a glass of water. My water tastes great. One filter lasted me more than a year.
