good performance, POOR DESIGN November 1, 2008 Although this mower works well at cutting grass and bagging leaves, the switch is very poorly designed and has broken on both (I purchased two mowers since I have a larger yard) mowers within one year. A flimsy plastic handle pivots on a thin plastic post, held by a light-weight spring. The plastic post degrades and fatigues quickly, and eventually breaks off at both ends, resulting in a mower that will not operate. I have not subjected the mower to unusually severe treatment, and cannot fathom why an otherwise well-designed appliance should have such a poorly designed switch.
BD cordless mower cmm1200 October 30, 2008 It's so easy a caveman can do it. LOL. Seriously, my wife and i took it out of the box, attached the handle, plugged it up to charge....and voila, it MOWs.
My yard is less than 1800 SF so i can mow it twice (North/South then East/West) to make sure everything is trimmed. The one drawback is that it doesnt have the suction power of a gas mower so you have to make an extra run to cut some of the longer blades.
Even though it weights over 60lbs and is not self propelled, you wouldn't even notice the weight....since it is on 4 wheels the weight is distributed evenly.
1. quite 2. liteweight 3. clean, no gas, oil, mess....
So far so good??? October 30, 2008 I received mower in about 10 days in good shape. I charged battery and it's ready to use. It was easy to operate...no set-up...only a key safety switch and the on/off lever. Everything worked as described. Have used twice with good results. Grass is not growing much since its fall...before leaves fall. Did not use the mulching bag to minimize weight. It does not have as much power a typical 5 hp gas mower. Keeping the blades sharp will be important. It's easy to push up medium slopes. I could definitely tell that the motor power was decreasing about half way through the yard (1/3 ac), but I started with the heaviest grass so it wasn't a problem. I reserve final approval until I've used it through the entire year. So far so good from Greenville, SC
I believe false claims are being made October 24, 2008 I have now used this product for an entire summer. Black and Decker claims that you should be able to get 1/3 acre (14,200 sq. ft.) done on one charge. My lawn is around 7,000 sq. ft. and I have made it through the whole lawn exactly once out of about 20 mowings. How they get by with putting out their outrageous claims, I have no idea, but I have pretty much decided that my love affair with everything Black and Decker is now over. I will try and find some other company to tell me their outrageous claims.
Great Lawnmower October 18, 2008 I've had this lawnmower for about three weeks now (5 to 6 cuttings) and I love it. I have about 5000 sq. ft. of lawn, and the mower handles it with ease. The low noise level allows me to listen to my MP3 player while mowing - something I couldn't do with my gas powered mower. It sounds as if I'm vaccuming the lawn instead of mowing it.
If you have a moderate sized lawn, this is the mower for you.
