Excellent Low-Price Knife Sharpener April 11, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I read about this knife sharpener in Cook's Illustrated, which rated it the best manual one. Since receiving it, I have sharpened a number of knives with it, and am very satisfied. It is simple to use, and can be mastered after only a few uses. For the price, it can't be beat. I can highly recommend it.
Sharpens Great!!! March 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This sharpner worked so well that I bought a second one to have when I wear this one out.
Better than nothing. February 19, 2007 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
No matter what you do, it will not put an edge on any knife like it was professionally sharpened. However, it will bring an old dull knife back from the dead and get it to the point where you can cut a ripe tomato w/ it, which should be good enough for most purposes. I use my Accusharp on my less expensive knives and stick w/ my honing steel and the occasional trip to the sharpeners for my nicer ones.
Sharp System February 16, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm someone who spends a lot of time cooking. Sharp knives are a must for me. As a result I keep honing stones and a sharpening steel at hand at all times. But using stones is a time consuming procedure.
I'd seen this product in a store a while back but doubted that something so simple could be effective. Then I read a product review in Cook's Illustrated magazine that rated it superior to sharpening systems far more expensive. I was impressed!
I was even more impressed when I started using the Accusharp. Follow the instructions on the back of the packaging. Its use isn't quite as intuitive as it would appear. But once you use it correctly you'll be rewarded with beautifully honed cutlery from a minimum of effort!
Better than a Flat Stone for Kitchen Knives February 8, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This knife sharpener made it to the top of the heap for non-electric sharpeners in a recent issue of Cooks magazine. So, I decided to try it. The Accusharp is definitely a step up from a flat stone. It provides a more consistent edge in amateur hands and, gets knives sharp quickly. I liked it enough that I ordered several more for friends and family members with kitchen drawers full of dull knives.
