3 out of 5 stars Younger Next Year   August 19, 2008
Younger Next Year for Women: Live Strong, Fit, and SexyUntil You're 80 and Beyond
Good advice, but mostly common sense. I don't agree with all of the information, but I took what was right for me. Eat right.Don't drink too much--except water. And exrcise-six days a week is a bit much though.
Interesting juxtaposition between advice from a professional (a doctor and a layman. The layman's writing was colorful and more fun to read.

5 out of 5 stars Most Motivating Book   August 12, 2008
This is the most motivating book I've ever read. My daughter-in-law gave it to me for my birthday. It was so motivating that I have been exercising 5 or 6 times a week for the last 12 weeks. I have bought about 10 and given them away to my friends. I am grateful to my sweet daughter-in-law for giving me this book and getting me back into exercise.

3 out of 5 stars Same as the other book.   July 7, 2008

I read the first book written by the 2 authors and hoped the edition for women would be full of information that would be useful to me as a woman. It was mostly a rewrite of their first book. There was nothing in it that I didn't already know. The only positive thing I can remark upon is that it had a pretty pink cover. If you already have "Younger Next Year", don't bother purchasing this one. You will experience deja vu.

4 out of 5 stars Finally Sinking In   June 14, 2008
I have never written a review on any book or product, but this book motivated me to go ahead and share my opinion.

I just had my 39th birthday and have spent the last year on a quest to improve myself. I have read countless health/fitness books and subscribe to 6 different health/light cooking magazines. I am 40 pounds overweight and have spent far more time investigating a quick fix to my problem than actually working on it! Despite being fully armed with more health and exercise knowledge than anyone I know... I just could not bring myself to apply any of it! For whatever reason, this book finally hit home. I have been getting out of bed everyday and exercising for the past 5 days without complaint. This is an absolute first for me... I am not a morning person! I met with a personal trainer this week and will be starting on a weight lifing program. I am excitedly looking online at opportunities for fitness vacations and am considering a rowing trip for my 40th! I am grateful for having found this book in my late 30's... this book is not just for those who are 50 or 60!

1 out of 5 stars Save Your Money!   June 3, 2008

I was so disappointed with this book. Eat right, Exercise, rid yourself of relationships that drain you and make you unhappy, Exercise, create a supportive network of friends, Exercise, stay involved in activities. There I just told you what the entire book said, so save your money. I thought this book had a slightly sexist tone to it because it seemed that women were more defined by their relationships to others especially a spouse. A woman is not defined by who she marries, if she even chooses to marry, or by whether or not she has children. It seemed at times that the author was telling a woman to make sure her spouse was well taken care of so that she could take care of herself too. This book offered no new insights.
