Smithsonian Magazine September 24, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent magazine for people who want to learn or read a wide variety of interesting topics. Articles are concise, yet interesting, informative without being too technical. The magazine covers the entire spectrum of topics covered by the various Smithsonian institutions, and then some.
Perfect for any waiting room. August 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A beautifully done periodical, with unusually good photography. If you are looking for a magazine filled with the latest information on international events, science, anthropology, or the arts this is not what you are looking for. If you are looking for interesting vacation destinations and you like to learn tidbits of history/science/anthropology as you read, this is the one.
favorite magazine of all July 8, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you like well written articles covering every subject imaginable, this is for you. Science? History? Art? From the trivial but amusing to critical issues of mankind's survival, every article is a literary gem that always delights. Makes a great gift.
Buy National Geographic Instead May 14, 2007 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Smithsonian magazine lacks the unique, enlightening, interesting, "eye opening" material and first class photography that National Geographic offers. Much of the material in this magazine is old news or material that one can find, perhaps, in a Sunday edition of one's favorite newspaper. Even the paper this magazine is printed on is of much less quality than National Geographic. Buy National Geographic and don't waste your money on this magazine.
Smithsonian magazine May 14, 2007 Smithsonian magazine is a remarkable collection of photos and articles related to the mission of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, DC. In any given issue the subjects can include an incredible mix such as detailed but very readable science topics, fresh looks at a historical event, biographies of notable artists, writers, explorers, etc., current events from a sociological perspective and many others. The photographs are always stunning. We use this as a supplement to our homeschooling.
