5 out of 5 stars Moonlight ROCKS!!   January 19, 2008

I look forward to Friday night when I can leave the demands of a long, hard work week and escape into Moonlight's story line and characters. Mick St.John may be a vampire, but he doesn't have to "turn you" to keep you coming back again & again. I hope the writers keep the audience quessing each week.

5 out of 5 stars At last! Someone worth watching on TV!   January 19, 2008

As a hard-case romantic, I bemoan the fact there are hundreds of TV channels, and yet, never ANYTHING to watch. Like many of the people commenting on this show, I've been a fan of Dark Shadows, Beauty and the Beast, X-Files, and Forever Knight. Buffy--eh, was like watching a kid's cartoon. Moonlight however--MOONLIGHT is for adults.

I think I have a thing for angst-ridden men, seeking redemption, and dressed in black coats--I was also a fan of La Femme Nikita because of Michael.

Mick St. John is lovely to look at, with a smile that could melt steel into butter. But what I love most about his character is his moral decency, which makes sense when you think of him as being turned in the 1950s. He has that old school code of honor, often missing in heroes these days, as well as a sweet vulnerability that tugs on your heartstrings.

I gave Moonlight a shot because I loved Forever Knight and was wishing and hoping for something romantic to look forward to--I wasn't disappointed. The two lead characters MAKE the show: There's a handsome vampire who is more like a guardian/avenging angel, hopelessly in love with a headstrong young woman, who's career is constantly getting her into trouble. What more could any romantic want?

Like many others, I worry this will get canceled simply BECAUSE I love it. Hollywood is pretty hard on us romantics, unfortunately.

So fellow romantics, if you haven't taken a peek at this show yet, you'll be kicking yourself when you do for not checking it out sooner. For those that have seen it--relish it--and pray CBS is smart enough to see they have a hit show on their hands.

I totally love the show. Good arguments, dialogs, and the chemistry between Mick and Beth is awesome.

5 out of 5 stars This show is H-O-T!   January 16, 2008

Everyone else has pretty much summed up what a great series this has turned into. And I agree with a previous reviewer, this show would have been absolutely amazing (well, even more amazing than it is now) if it had been on HBO or Showtime. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray release and I pray this series continues on for years.

5 out of 5 stars Keeps getting better and better   January 14, 2008

Moonlight grabs you, picks you up and throws you with 300-year-old vampire strength into a world where you actually care about vampires. How crazy is that? Not crazy at all, when you consider that these vamps are characters more real than Angel or Buffy's bunch could ever hope to be.

In "Sleeping Beauty", Mick is drawn closer to Beth while solving Josef's apparent murder. The tension between Mick and Beth is palpable, thick; when are these two going to get together?! Hopefully never, because their byplay is driving this series like a runaway freight train.

Lots of highlights in this one...here's a few without (hopefully) revealing too much:
-you'll definitely learn a side of Josef you didn't know existed;
-in a battle between a vampire and a special ops U.S. war vet turned mercenary, who do you think wins?
-Josh is such a tool (but we already knew that);
-Beth is not turned on by promises of steaks and martinis with a night on the town in Manhattan; [sigh] and
-really beautiful scenes of LA and NYC.

Amazon UnBox has better video quality than I expected. I'm used to the HD over-the-air uncompressed video from CBS, but this, my first excursion into UnBox, was very positive. The file downloaded fast, played smoothly from my hard drive, and easily matched DVD video quality. (I don't know if the audio is 5.1 -- my computer has a 2.1 setup, and the audio was just fine.)

Overall, an enjoyable episode and an enjoyable service.
