garmin 200w October 15, 2008 My first garmin was totaly defective. It did not catch the satellite signal at all. The seller was very kind, they replaced it with the new one. I love this navigation, it is very reasonably priced, and works fine now.
Awesome at what its supposed to do! October 14, 2008 This Nuvi 200W is awesome. East set up, nice large easy to ready screen, very easy to use interface, and under $200! Got this for my girlfriend who is always getting lost and is no electronics whiz and we both love it and find it easy to use and see. I didnt want to waste my money on stupid features we would never use like the MP3 player, bluetooth, voice activation because we wanted to keep it simple. Like the description says this GPS device does what its supposed to very well. It picks up signal immediately after its first start up, and is very accurate with many many up to date POIs. Highly recommended.
Great Nav October 14, 2008 Recalculates very fast. Came with very up to date makes. Great for the money.
Good and bad October 12, 2008 The good:
Audio level is beyond adequate. Back lighting is great, especially with day and night modes. Once the signal is acquired, it does work quite well and does use fairly good routes. I particularly like the feature of being able to find local food/shopping etc points of interest. Great for finding food for lunch break since I have a new job and work in the city. Love the security of knowing noone could ever use it without my pin.
The bad:
I think it takes forever to load and acquire the satellites, especially when your in a wide open parking lot holding it in your hand outside your car!!! Poor battery life without the power adapter. Also, has some minor map configuration errors. Tried to send me down a one way road the wrong way in Boston, then rerouted me and again tried to send me down the wrong way with several other roads that ran parallel to this street. I was very disappointed with this incident. Also, there have been occasions where it uses longer routes than I would have used. Also, disappointed that it does not have an option to configure for truck routes.
Don't leave home without it! October 12, 2008 My husband and I travel frequently and I usually Map Quest directions and take along the road atlas. We planned a trip to Yellowstone from Tennessee and I was dreading the navigating! I usually read the directions in hand and try to follow up on the map and we often get headed in the wrong direction. Ladies you know how stressful that can be - when they don't know where they are or where they are going!?! Well, I decided to get purchase a gps. After doing an internet search and consumer report check, I bought the Garmin 200. EVERY household needs one. We never once got lost or had to wonder where we were or what was ahead of us. My husband gave me full credit! We both agree that this was the most stress free trip we have ever taken. I'm getting my son one for Christmas!
