Great little gizmo. It does exactly what it says it does, pretty easy to use. You want to know why your Check Engine light is on, get this thing.
It is the budget model January 10, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Haven't given this an extensive workout. As specified, it does not give you error code descriptions. But it is not that hard to look up the code in the book.
I found that the 2006 Toyota Corolla I tried to diagnose must be using something beyond OBDC codes, because the "Maintenance" light does not register a code or clear out with this device (this Maint. light is not the same as the "Check Engine" light).
That was disappointing, but Toyota's fault, not Actron's.
Great Product . Great Price January 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a 96 Camry which over the last few days had its check engine light coming on. I found the problem using the OBD scanner and reset the code to see if it popped up again. It did not. This probably would have cost me a 100 bucks. Now a couple of my friends have borrowed it already and have successfully used it to find out the real problem with their vehicles. Very very useful tool and very easy to use. The hard problem here can be finding the location of the OBD interface in your car. For Camry V6 it was hidden behind the coin holder (a little compartment to the left of the steering wheel).
Great tool for My Civic January 10, 2007 I have a 2001 Civic EX and a 2004 CRV EX. This tool works great in both. It not only reads flags and resets them, but if you leave it plugged in while you drive the car, it gives you monitor info on various sensors that need to be running warm in order to give a reading.
Great to find out what needs to be done to do it yourself or good even if you just want to know what to expect when you take your car into service. Gives you a leg up when you're "talking shop" with the service manager.
Actron Code Reader January 9, 2007 Very easy to use. Rugged unit. A good value all around.
