Don't Get What You Buy April 14, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
You don't get what you buy in this photo, which is really weird in my opinion. So part of my rating is that.
Otherwise, it's a decent tool. I doubt it works too well, and I doubt it is terribly accurate. Gets the job done with the ease that a normal stick tool can't do.
Great little device March 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far this gauge has been extremely accurate. I used a standard tire gauge and this one for the first several measurements and got the same readings from both. So much easier to read that I'll never go back!!
Amazon shipped the older model? March 13, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The one Amazon shipped does not look like the picture, it's the long thin one with tiny red LED. Got it reshipped and still the same tiny red LED one and not the one in the picture.
Started fine, Now I'm stuck with a novelty paperweight January 7, 2008 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
I'm religious about my tire pressure. I keep a pressure gauge in each of my vehicles, along with a manual tire pump. Moreover, I know what to look for with devices like this, and all my experience told me this one looked like a winner when I decided to purchase it.
First thing I notices was difficulty in seating it on the valve stem. I lost 5 psi. before I got a complete measurement. I could have gotten used to that, but...
After about two days of using this product, it had a change of heart, deciding that all my tires, on all my cars, had 28.5 psi. No car of mine keeps pressure that low, so I let it shut down and tried it again a few times with the same 28.5 psi result.
Now I have nailed it up on my "wall of shame" of all the cheaply-made and low-quality car accessories I have come across.
My recommendation: take a pass on this item, and buy one of the generic $7 ones from your local dept. store auto section. I bought one of these two years ago and have used it on a weekly basis ever since with great results.
Your experience may be different, but mine doesn't work correctly.
Didn't last long January 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Very light weight and seemed to work great. Best I could tell it was extremely accurate. I tend to check my tires every month. The fourth time I used it the digital read-out showed only a partial line immediately after use which went out. After several attempts to repeat I thought it might be the batteries. I found out it takes 3 cell (watch) type batteries. I spun them around and tried again. Same result. I replaced the batteries (cost as much as the instrument) and it still doesn't work. I realize that 8 bucks or so isn't much but still, there is no reason to throw away money on something that won't last very long.
