This is a great product, I would recommend it to anyone as a emergency, security item for your vehicle. It is excellent especially for my wife when she is on the road by herself. Even NEW cars have problems and this is a good problem solver!

Bought one of these Black & Decker 300 Amp jump starters last month--and had to use it the other day when my '81 Subaru's battery finally died. Followed the instructions for a positive terminal battery hook-up, attached the ground clamp to car frame (must be bare metal!!!), turned on the jumper and hopped in the car to turn the ignition. Voila! Immediate start from a cold engine.
Very modest size and easy to stash in a vehicle. Nice that the metal clamps are stored efficiently right on the unit. Instructions note that units are already partially charged before shipping and to charge for some additional time once the green light starts to flicker during wall charging.

When off roading alone its comforting to know that youve got a way to get started if the battery dies. Has very bright work light that could allow you to walk for hours if need be also.

Great little jump starter at a great cost. I was shocked at the small size of this unit when it arrived and a little skeptical, but it has successfully jump started my 3.3L V6 engine from dead now twice, once in freezing conditions. Admittedly it does strain a bit to get the engine turning over, but it does what it's meant to do, so what more can I say.
Also, the fact it can be charged from the car accessory (cigarette lighter) outlet as well as the mains supply means once the engine is running this can be staright back on charge in the car.
I always carry this as a back up now.

My battery died in New York City today. I drive a long bed Ford E-350 van. When I turned the key to start the van all I got were a few "clicks". I hooked the Black & Decker jump starter (VEC010BD) to the battery and in one turn of the key the engine started without hesitation. I strongly recommend this item to everyone. It's invaluable. In the past, if my battery died I would have to wait several hours for AAA to show up to get a jump start. Also consider the low price of this item by Amazon, it can't be beat.This jump starter sells for $49.95 at my local Auto Barn. I would have gladly paid three times the price I paid just to prevent being stranded in twenty degree weather waiting for a tow truck to show up. Buy one or two, you'll be happy you did.
