I have tried this product on four separate vehicles with three different users pouring over the instructions with absolutely no success. The old reliable products which clip directly to the battery are somewhat more expensive, but well worth the investment Not only is the product not worth purchasing, it may cost you more in the end if you have to somehow rely on it in any way. I have lost hundreds of dollars by relying on this garbage.

I bought this the last time it was a "deal of the day". It got here very fast, perfect condition, simple instructions. You simply charge it, and then use it to add enough charge to your battery for your vehicle to work.
Full disclosure: I have a Ford F250, which has 2 batteries in it. One day after it went from really cold to really hot, the batteries lost just enough charge for it to not turn over. No problem - I took my fully charged Battery Booster, followed the instructions, but it didn't make any noticeable difference in my truck.
I then used a traditional battery charger (also from Black and Decker), and charged both batteries. They have been fine since (about a month).
My recommendation would be to use this for a smaller vehicle that doesn't require as much juice to start.

I bought this so called booster about 6 months ago and have attempted to use it 4 or 5 times with no success. I have a small car with a little 4 cylinder engine, so I have a small battery but this seemingly handy device could not "boost" my battery. I have no idea whether or not this feeble little box is doing anything at all. Perhaps I have one that is defective from the factory but I have no confidence now that a non-defective replacement is worth the money -- spend a little more for a "real" jumpstarter. This Black & Decker will just "boost" your wallet.

I got this for my wife so she wouldn't have to get out of her car if her battery died. I used it almost immediately after purchasing it on a co-worker's SUV. It worked exactly as described. I was impressed, and it's reassuring to know that my wife has the Simple Start in her vehicle.

All over 60 years old were raised under Black and Decker reign.All the products were equal to quality.That surely has changed, at least with this Black and Decker BB7B Simple Start 12-Volt Battery Booster.
When I discovered it I was at once fascinated with the product and inmedaitely bought one. It came out defective.I filed my claim and Amazon replaced the item.COULD YOU BELEIVE the replacement was faulty also. I gave up and this second time didn`t file a claim. I am an egineer and now after readings some other reviews plus my own experience plus the type of failure, I am convinced that the problems with this item are some of its components.The idea is superb, the design is good and the size and weight are good. I want to encourage B$D to revise the type of components used in this item. What about a recall?
