 A truly great voice matures July 8, 2008

I have been a Josh Groban fan from the first time I heard his voice 2 or 3 years ago. First let me say at the outset that I am not a great fan of popular music. It's OK, but it doesn't make my putter flutter. Nonetheless, it seemed that this young man was destined for greatness even if he veered away from the classical repertoire.
Awake is a mix of classical and pop, but it is surely aimed at the pop music fans who filled the Salt Lake City auditorium where this was recorded live at a concert.
This recording is a large sample of the songs he sung there, and there isn't a clinker in the bunch. If this is your first exposure to Josh, then be prepared to become a fan. If you are already a fan, this album marks a further progression in the professionalism, training, and just plain talent on display here.
Buy it. You won't regret it.

Once again, Josh has showed his amazing talent in this Live CD/DVD. His performance is more energetic, more mature, more relaxing than his last Closer Tour, and clearly indicated how he was delighted to be around his fans. His voice's definitely beautiful and the music is excellent. Certainly, Josh is one of the greatest performer in our times. This CD/DVD is a treasure for every Josh fan, especially for overseas fans that don't have any chances to see him live.

I don't think I realized how much was put into the concert until I watched how many songs were included.
It's basically just the songs, with a little bit of the "between-song" stuff included. I would love to have seen more of the between stuff, since I didn't actually attend the concert, but, perhaps next time.
Overall, sound and picture seem good quality - at least on my little 19inch t.v. :)

I had a chance to see this concert live in Boston and it was amazing. This DVD brought back the memories of that experince. If you like Josh you should own this DVD!

I had reviewed Josh's Noel hit and was expecting with Awake Live something more spiritual. Besides I had received his Awake album some time ago so maybe the impact of his Live concert would have been more dramatic had I attended this event in Salt Lake City. Still credit is due where credit is earned and I will share this CD with family and friends.
