AN UNBEATABLE DEAL OF UNBEATABLE QUALITY: BOTH HIGH CAPACITY SD CARD AND READER April 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received this package nearly as quickly as the order was placed. I know such things do not belong in a product review, nor do references to pricing, but these things are so very extraordinary as to deserve recognition.
In any case, I will use this HC SD card in my Nikon D40, and be able to take hundreds of their RAW format (uncompressed) shots before needing another. I do come from the old time "shoot a (film) roll keep a shot" school of photojournalism, way back when such was economically feasible, and so I tend to snap as much and as many shots as possible, even of still lives, in order to discover at home the one shot that works. The D40 is great for this, including as I still struggle to conquer its auto-focus and auto-aperture (and thus depth of field) features, and so I am very grateful for as much room in memory as possible.
I imagine this 4 gigabyte card is also useful for video cameras that can use such a thing, as recording time may become longer. I have never used such a thing so I do not know. I only know that my D40 DSLR still camera loves to eat this ample memory card, and we are all happy. I read where the HC SD will soon come in even greater sizes.
Having lost the proprietary USB cable which connects the camera to the computer, I am really grateful for the included Blue Photon reader. Please note the reader is a little wide, as wide as the card plus half, and so you need to have a USB port on your computer with room on either side. This eliminates some of those front ports on some old Dells, and eliminates ports crowded with other peripheral cables. Move the mouse and keyboard cables elsewhere (do you need to get Microsoft's permission for this?) and squeeze in this reader.
I have already used this reader on the road. I can take photos out in Mexico or wherever, find a public internet source, sit down, swap the sd card out of the camera and into the reader, and file a story on the spot. These photos have already been published and came out just fine. I took them in the highest quality JPG format the D40 offers, and transfered them to the publisher without any further processing, and they came out incredibly well, if I do say do. Hey, the proof is they got published!
So there is no loss of quality in the reader itself, which is fast enough to effectively transfer a three or four megabyte photo file in no time. The reader is small and durable and slips into any pocket easily, even an inner hatband. Both ends have covers to protect the insides well. Don't leave home without it; there is no excuse not to take it along, and plenty of reason to bring it.
This deal cannot be beat. A great SD car and a fantastic reader. Can life get any better than this!

A lot of products such as older (1+ years) cameras can not take a 4 gig memory card.
Good deal December 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought the card and reader for less than everyone else charges for just the card on sale. Works fine in every product I've put it in so far.

I purchased this memory card for my Nikon D80 camera. The card works well, holding over 1000 shots at Jpg Normal quality. I am very glad the card came with a card reader, since this card cannot be recognized by my other SD card reader. This SD card will also NOT work in my Canon SD450. These electronic items appearantly do NOT accept SD HC.
