Great for parties--as drink coasters October 13, 2008 In a nutshell: don't buy these. I got a new 50-pack of these and have yet to have any get past even burning the Lead-in track. I thought I had a catastrophic problem with my computer--what with not being able to burn any of these on three different DVD-DL-capable drives. Then it dawned upon me that I had just gone from a MUCH older pack of Memorex DVD DL's to a new pack of these. After doing some web research, I learned that Memorex DVD-DL's are OEM'ed from different vendors with an apparent lack of quality control. Per suggestions, I bit the bullet and bought some Verbatim DVD DL's--those made in Singapore, NOT from their new outsourced supplier in India--at roughly double the cost. But it was like night and day: every one of the Verbatim's burned and played without problems. Going through the trash last night, I counted that I had tossed nine of these Memorex DVD DL's because they wouldn't burn. That took the sting out of buying the Verbatim's. Just enter--or copy/paste--"Verbatim DVD DL" in the Amazon search box above. That's a lot less aggravating, trust me....
0% Success October 12, 2008 If you are looking to burn/copy movies, I would strongly advise against getting these discs. I have yet to burn a working copy of any of my movies. Sony or Phillips are a nice alternative. They're a bit more pricey but have worked every time for me.
Not working as well as Verbatum October 6, 2008 These Memorex DVD+R DL discs have not worked as well for me as Verbatum brand. I've burnt 5 Memorex so far, which have produced 2 that did not verify correctly and the other 3 are problematic when playing on an inexpensive DVD player connected to a TV (the other higher quality DVD player I have succeeds in playing these 3 discs though). On the same computer, I have burnt 3 DVD+R DL Verbatum brand discs, which all verified correctly and would play without problem on my cheap DVD player...
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!! October 6, 2008 I've used about 600 or so of these discs with no problems what so ever.... I use a Pioneer drive and they burn beautifully.... I buy because of the price and verbatim is by far the best quality but way to expensive for me....
Inconsistent Results October 5, 2008 Previous to buying, I read through some of the reviews saying that people were having many failed burns with the DVDs. Regardless to people saying that they were having patchy results, the low price ultimately made my decision to give the product a try. The first 50pk of Memorex Dual Layer DVDs that I purchased were flawless. I didn't have one bad burn, subsequently leading me to believe that the people experiencing trouble with the DVDs must not have been using a good burning software, or they didn't know what they were doing. So, after using the first 50pk I didn't hesitate to purchase another 50 because the price was great. Well I think the cheap DVDR DL luck ran out because my second 50pk of the DVDs has been horrible! I have literally gone through the entire 50pk and haven't got one successful burn. My computer knowledge and burning knowledge is of expert level, so I know it's nothing on my part. I also use Nero 8.1.1.0, so the software is ok. Basically it comes down to rolling the dice, literally your $, and hoping you get a good batch. If you decide to purchase these, I hope your luck was better than mine!! :D
